    Now, we won't get every kid that comes on a visit. But after his first big weekend, CBJ seems to be true to his word. These kids each sound amazed by what they see at UT. There seems to be an attention to detail and passion that a lot of these kids haven't seen elsewhere. Doesn't hurt that the new practice facility is ready to be a huge recruiting tool as well.

    As many have said, the caveat is these guys just got here and haven't had a lot of time to build the relationships. But I think we'll finish pretty well and how can people not be excited by the prospects of this staff's future recruiting?

  • I love this staffs relentless approach. it shows the contrast between last staff and this one. I thought we had just a couple relentless recruiters in hinshaw and graham but this head coach sets the tone.

    exactly... we don't need to win the SEC next year... heck, we don't even need to win the SEC East next year for momentum going into next offseason. A winning record would be huge for 2014s recruiting class.

    one million percent accurate..a losing record likely kills a lot of recruiting momentum, and it takes a bit of the steam out of CBJ's rallying cry of "4 conference championships in 6 seasons.." Which is why i say THIS year is so critical. Got to strike while the iron's hot and when you have no real weak spots in your track record. Go 5-7 next year, and every one of the competing SEC coaches will be in every recruits ear about how CBJ cant cut it in the SEC.. A good class this year, with some guys who can help us out - Bell, Lawson, Green..would go a long way to avoid a bad season next year and keeping our momentum going forward..

    Get what you're saying Frosty, but realistically, how likely is it that CBJ's got enough ammo to close really strong w/the guys you mentioned? I'm sure most objective VOL fans are really impressed w/what this staff has done on the 2013 trail given such a compressed timeline & the ground that they're trying to make-up. And I get the point you're making on the scenario of posting a losing record, but as I've said before, it's an awefully steep climb this staff is trying to make w/the '13 class. I remain optimistic that they can close a couple of these guys...at least CBJ's in the FIGHT!
