Just a comment on Coach Jones' character

  • I think it speaks volumes for a coach's character, honesty and integrity to see former players on TV thanking him for working with/for them at Cincinnati. When was the last time you saw a coach leave somewhere and have former players thanking them. Just three years ago in Cincinnati was quite the opposite, nobody had anything good to say about Kelly leaving for ND. He straight up lied to his players right up to the time he took off for South Bend. Now some of those same players have gone through another coaching change but their reactions tell me all I need to know about Coach Jones. Don't know if he'll win, I sure hope so, but Coach Jones is stand up guy, straight up with his players and I like that. Good luck Coach and GO VOLS.

  • The folks in Cincinati don't have much good to say regarding Lyle's integrity.

Meh... I'm more interested in what his former players have to say than what a jilted columnist had bemoan (taken out of context, that's what it sounded like)

  • I'm sure some people are upset he left, that's only natural. I'm more interested in what the players thought, ho they reacted. What will those same people say/think when they are offered another job somewhere. Will their former boss or friends say they weren't "committed" to our company? People change jobs and move on, that's the way it goes.

None other than Clay Travis once opined that if a sportswriter was out of ideas, he could just gauge popular opinion, write a story that supported the opposite, then defend as nauseum.

Agree totally, when he said the players applauded him I had heard enough.
