Just be honest in your assessment.

  • Not gonna try to sway anyone. Just tell me what you see. I'm genuinely curious.

Barring some serious improvement on defense in the next three games (in addition to winning out), I doubt Dooley is back in 2013...

  • I would be awfully surprised if we win 2 of the next 3.

  • I see 60,000 or less in the seats next weekend. I don't see anyway he returns next year.

    Lcbskballer15

  • I see a major lack of talent in the secondary, mainly CB, and it isn't getting better anytime soon. I also see a front 7 that can't get any pressure on the QB. Lack of athleticism at LB, also not getting better anytime soon. And a defense that still looks lost 1/2 the time, and is terrible at tackling. Offense is fine, no huddle is beyond stupid though, we have to shorten games...

In the end we don't recruit well enough, mainly on Defense which is what wins in the SEC, and I don't see us ever winning 9 games w/ Dooley as our head coach. If it's up to me Dooley is fired tonight.

Also we have gotten worse as the season has gone on the past 2 years, signs of players not responding to coaching.

  • If we win out Dooley is back next year- the way this team is playing this will not happen.

    I can't argue with any of this^^^

These kids deserve to play in front of and have the support of 100,000 screaming fans and with Dooley here next year that just isn't going to happen.

    Lcbskballer15

  • First of all, thanks JP for not being like a couple of other "fans" on here and not thumping your chest for the program's lack of success.

I am really concerned about the total failure of the defense. There is nothing to take from today's defensive performance that I could spin in a positive way. Nothing. Totally disillusioned now with the lack of progress.

The biggest thing that stuck out to me today was when we stopped them in the first half, they were lining up for a FG even though we were up comfortably at the time. We had to call a timeout and that gave them time to decide to go for it, which of course they converted. No defense for having too many players on the field. If we held them to 3 at that time, and come back and score, the game is over at half-time and we are not being ridiculed even more across the SEC.

Long story short - my confidence is shot at this time on this team being able to win out. The thoughts of losing to a first year Mizzou team and Vandy team, for me, would be worse than the Kentucky loss last year. no

"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!

  • Coach Sunseri should be demoted to cleaning toilets. If Tennessee wins out, I'm not sure if Dooley should stay or go. Sunseri was his hire.... And probably the worst one ever for this program. Kiffin and Clawfull are right there with the Sal hire tho.

I agree but I would exclude AJ and Curt from your assessment of our LBs. Otherwise your spot IMO...+1

I agree with a lot of this, but I put a lot more on the coaching than the recruiting. Yeah we're not recruiting as we'll as we need to be to win championships, but the talent should at least make for a serviceable D. There are some future NFL players on that defense, and several four stars. Remember when P Wagg was All-SEC? We only lost 2 starters from last year. All of this shows me that this is 95% terrible coaching. I feel bad for these players because they are going to go down as the worst D in our history, but they shouldn't be this bad.

Remember the d line in 2010? It never ever looked this bad that year. It's definitely coaching.

  • My own opinion is that this is a poorly coached team with major deficiencies on the roster and no coherent plan. The offense doesn't sustain drives and control the ball to try and protect the defense. Special teams is still a mess. I see very little improvement from the team that played NC State. I simply do not think our current coach is capable of doing his job well.

    JPSke

  • My feeling is if we win the next 3 each by 50 Dooley still needs to go.

I would like to know the real story there. I have heard the same thing. If Hart forced Sunseri on Dooley, he deserves a pass. At the very least, Sal has got to go.

Agreed. I haven't seen any improvement since NCState. The o-line has improved in run blocking since last year and the RBs have improved in hitting the holes, but the regression on defense has outweighed the offensive improvement.

I agree with everything, part of the DB problem is youth and lack of coaching. I think some of our younger DB's have talent, but when your completely green with experience and have a vast lack of coaching to help you, you get what we've saw all year. From a fundamental stand point on defense, most high school teams are better prepared than we are! I hate it for Maggitt and AJ, because they play their hearts out, the players deserve better IMO!

It baffles me how anyone can put blame on the offense. Yeah they're not perfect but they've nearly elite this year and they are the only reason we ever have a shot to win. And special teams have improved significantly during the year. Palardy has improved tons and we all know what CP is capable of in the return game. This is ALL on the defense. Frankly I'm shocked there have not been more reports of a divided locker room because this once a decade offense is going to waste thanks to the poor D. You put an AVERAGE defense out there, and we may have beaten everyone but Bama.
