See my other post in this thread. I agree with you that Dooley has done a terrible job. I'm definitely not in denial. He doesnt deserve another year. See, I agree with you! But how you drew that conclusion comparing to Sumlin is very weak. Then mocking people's spelling when they disagree is even weaker. Quit being condescending and you won't be making enemies among those that actually agree with what you're trying to say.

It is easy Sumlin did something in his first year on the job that Dooley hasn't done in his 3 years here. Sumlin beat a ranked opponent, on the road, and in the conference.

Dooley took UT in his 3rd year to the same place and got beat 3 weeks ago.

Kevin Sumlin now has 4 wins in the SEC in his first year while Dooley is at 4 after 3 years.

The point to this whole thing is you have people on here saying it would set the program back 5 years if we let Dooley go. That is false see Kevin Sumlin.

They are also saying it has to be Jon Gruden or keep Dooley and I am pointing out that there are other coaches out there good enough to succeed where others have failed. See Kevin Sumlin.

Sumlin is a better coach than Dooley, eh? What a revelation.

You're also "forgetting," or just plain ignoring, that Texas A&M was ranked at times last season. We were never reasonably close last year. So, Sumlin has a better team this year and has a quarterback who is playing better than anyone really expected.

If the point you are trying to make is that Sumlin is an example of how first year coaches don't always mean you have to push the "reset" button on your program, then yes, once again, I agree with you.

I've made the point on this board before that "stability" is overrated at this stage. It was very important 2-3 years ago when we had two coaches leave in two years. That was because the roster was decimated by the coaching turnover, and the new coach (Dooley) needed time to rebuild it. I would argue it has been rebuilt enough that stability should not be priority #1 anymore. This roster is not Bama or LSU caliber, but it is deep and talented enough (yes, even on defense) that we should be getting more results, and that falls on the coaches. Not SEC championships, but better than what we've seen so far.

However, I think people who argue stability are also arguing that we can't afford to fire Dooley and miss on another coach, hence the Gruden or bust argument. And I think that has some merit. Not that it has to be Gruden, but it better be a good coach. A new coach doesn't mean we are starting over, UNLESS we take a gamble and miss, then we are back in this 2-3 years from now. If we fire Dooley and hire another mid-major coach with a mediocre record, I don't think many of us will be satisfied with that. That is change for the sake of change, and we will regret it.
