Kevin about Tee, furhter point about UT/Admin

  • To my point a couple days ago why UT had yet to release official news/docs on the new coaching hires...and my comment about how bungled everything has always been with UT and PR through the years....like 50!

    To further this idioticy....did you see where Tee and family showed up at the airport, and didn't even have anyone from UT to meet them... no car ... not anything. He had to rent a car and wander around campus for 15 or 20 minutes before figuring out where and who to meet with.

    There is no amound of explitives that I can put down here to state how insanely poor that is....what a joke!

    I wish it was a lost in coaching change excuse....but no... like I said before... the shame and utter disgustful nature to which the University conducts itself has been going on for years.

    Giving Coach Mears a used (state/university) van at halftime at a football game is a fine example of what I am talking about.

    How do you know there was nobody to pick them up you don't and to be honest I'm sure someone picked them up and Wes has confirmed a few hires !

    what are you talking about? The UT coaching hires and the lack of UT...that is the university of Tennessee officially updating their website and releasing a PR statement that coaches have been hired... have nothing to do with Wes reporting them.

    Yes we know they were reported by Wes, because we read about them being hired. But Kevin mentioned in a thread about the recent hires how he thought it was "wierd"...these guys were out on the road recruiting for UT and UT itself had not officially released anything. To which I made the comment that's not wierd that's just standard procedure for UT and how they mess PR up.

    As for Tee not being picked up... its been reported, that's how I know, again... because I read it... how do you make a comment "I'm sure someone picked him up" did you read that anywhere?

    Before we go on and on about accuracy and reporting.... and get away from the point. It has been reported and according to the person reporting it Tee mentioned this to several people. So there. I didn't hear it... I read it.

    Reading and clearly interpreting posts is usually a good thing to do, before typing a reply. Sorry if I didn't communicate enough information for you to do that.

  • USC guy here. It appears that Jones made the offer to Tee, halfheartedly, to satisfy the Vol fan base, rather then truly recruit him. Yes he was not met at the airport, Yes after a few hours and a meal Jones left to continue recruiting, yes Jones did not spend any time with Tee's wife, yes he knew Tee's USC salary (450K) going in (which was not bumped up after returning from Knoxville), and yes it was simply a lateral move rather then added responsibility in the play calling (Tee's career objective). Jones can now say he reached out to Tee and was turned down which will quiet the Vol fan base.. Tee is still a VFL.

    I believe USC will have a better season next year (how can USC score 51 points and lose), and that Kiffin will be at USC for several years.
    Believe it or not, his players and coaches have great respect and loyalty to him. He just needs to be a HC of both the D and the O, instead of playing the role of OC firstly.

  • Also, why is it the admins fault? Isn't that on the current coaching staff and their assistants? I am not sure how you blame the university for any of that.

  • Thanks for your response/info and or opinion.... so it seems you read or heard that Tee wasn't picked up at the airport huh...? Gee imagine that!

    The money and counter offers etc I think are just part of it ... I don't think we have any way of knowing for sure if it was just lip service by Coach Jones, I'll give him the benefit of doubt.... but I won't let UT and its Admin (the athletic dept and others)...off the hook.... I don't care how many down votes I get.

    Unless of course some of you don't clearly read this post and respond with something totally off subject. Then I will reply or summarize for you... So for the challenged...

    UT's inability to look professional and release coaching hires as they happen and update their website for other recruits that may be looking into / researching what's going on.... is PATHETIC!!! Furthermore, not having some representative from the University to pick up Tee or at least meet him on campus so he doesn't have to figure out what building office for his interview....is RIDICULOUS. But as I stated before, it is Par for the course.

    B. I don't understand why you are blaming the UTAD for how Tee was treated on his trip?

    Yeah I understand your angle on the contracts...but meanwhile they are out on the road immediately recruiting and calling kids... I think that is official enough, don't you? I mean ... I doubt they can travel on UT's dime / liability etc without being official, right?

    Im blaming UTAD because they handle coaching searches, do they not? I know Butch reached out and interviewed him...but there has to be some sort of coverage and support to help butch out with the minor details right?

    That's all I was thinking. Plus... I love bringing up the used van that was decided by someone in UT's AD / Admin to give away to our beloved basketball coach that was retiring... There are various examples of how bad our AD and Admin is not only at PR...but also general consciousness!

    as for the down votes...just opinions I guess....like you know what, everyone has one. I just respond back when I receive a backlash and the replies have nothing to do with what was written due to comprehension.

    I think that's BS. EA talked to Tee and alluded to none of that especially the effort put forth by Coach. If he wants to come here, he wants to come here. From the article on ESPN, it sounded like he came over and grandstanded with no intention of ever accepting a position. Think JG would have appreciated Tee getting 400k as a position coach when I'm sure he's not at that salary. I don't think Tee is worth that money but that's just my opinion.

  • The "no car at the airport" rumor was on Basilio's blog...I wouldn't exactly call that a report.

    Also, a poster on another site stated that Tee went to watch his son play a middle school basketball game...since the university probably doesn't have a chauffeur on staff I'm guessing that's why he rented a car. Having lived in Knoxville for several years he probably didn't need a sight seeing guide.

    Finally, as far as coach Jones not recruiting Tee, some local media have been of the opinion that Tee was fishing at the mouth to get back to Knoxville...obviously they were wrong.

    You have zero clue what you are talking about, remember there are guys in Knoxville that covered his recruitment and know him well and Tee picked up the phone when they called, plus there is a couple of people out west that cover USC that are and will always be vols, between the two they know what happened and your story is full of crap.

    Go away, have fun with Kiffy for a couple if more years, glad I don't have to deal with Ed, that guy is scum of the earth and I witnessed it first hand, ask some of the coaches in and around south florida if Kiffin and Ed are welcome on their campus. Take your lies back to LA.

    I don't know who CY or Big W is...by the looks of my ID I would think that would be obvious, but then again so is reading completely reading/comprehending posts. I never had anything to say about his salary....other than money offer and counters are part of the process. i.e... I don't have a problem with that....also in a previous post.

    Sorry, If I don't take your word or the fact that you take Hubs' word....give me a break!! So, some of the things said on the radio (Hyams, Hubbs etc) isn't rumors or "crap" as you call it....? Seems you are being Hypocritical if you are quoting guys like that... anyway...

    From the very start I was complaining about UT / Admin and their PR.... so what train are you talking about? If you are on their train...well that just goes further to disprove what type of realiabilty (oh sigh i meant Reliability sorry TNRon) or conjecture your opinion has.... Mine is from history, and it’s a sad case...just go to the basketball game tonight and talk to some of the people there to Celebrate Mears life and coaching career...and they will tell ya what they think about UT / Admin and their PR through the years.
