Lame Kiffin Strikes Again!!!

  • One of the many reasons I am glad Kiffin is no longer on RockyTop...

    Play

    Lane Kiffin, 9-19-12

USC Coach Lane Kiffin talks to the media following Wednesday's practice. When asked about a specific player's participation in practice, Kiffin responds "I don't know" before abruptly ending the press conference. *In keeping with USC practice policy, the question stating the player's name and status at practice has been muted.

  • I really dislike the guy, but I am betting that he wouldn't have completely forgotten about our running game the other night. Just saying...

Did Kiffin call plays here I can't remember. Seems like the last time our running game was decent was that year and we had walk-ons playing

Hardesty and B. Brown. Both are in the NFL. I promise you if we had either.......we would run the ball with fury now (if Chaney committed to it).

Hardesty blew his knee out and is still on an NFL team
Brown didnt even play football the last few years and is on the Eagles.

Those are talents. Its more about the RB than the Oline.........Peyton and Sanders had horrible Olines but got it done at the next level.......and college is a lot easier than the NFL to get it done if you are a talented RB.

I couldn't disagree more on the offensive line vs the running game argument. IMO offensive line play is much more important. If the Oline opens the proper hole just about any running back can get a couple yards as long as the running back has proper vision.

  • What was the question that pissed him off?

What was the question that pissed him off?

As the notation on the video indicates, Kiffin was asked about a specific player's participation in practice, Kiffin responds "I don't know" before abruptly ending the press conference. The point is he just decided that he was not going to answer questions. When the indifferent answers didn't achieve his desired outcome, Lame just walked out of the practice. What is most interesting to me is he did not have the courtesy to walk around the media after his abrupt exit. He was rude and then decided to outdo himself by all but shoulder bumping the media on his way out. Classy Lame strikes again!

  • I really can't blame him on this injury issue

  • Don't like Lane, but he had evidently told the media ahead of time to not ask questions about a couple of players because he didn't want to give away any injury status to the other team. When the cameras came on, they jumped right in and asked about what he told them he wasn't going to talk about.

If true the proper response should have been something to the effect of "As I previously stated I will not be answering questions about ....Next question please" If he keeps treating the "media" like this it could get ugly for him. You know how it is. These crazy media guys have this innate ability to make foes rue.

  • I also believe that the NFL's injury report is illegal.

It'd be same information he just gave the reporters. The only difference is one is said in front of the camera. I don't get how that's any more of a giveaway.

  • Some of you guys were talking earlier about Hardesty and how with a bum knee he's still in the NFL. I think a whole lot of his style is called determination and I also think, as crazy as this sounds, that determination is the reason he has his injury problems. I mean when he ran the ball he ran it like he was right on the edge of being reckless and hitting the holes in the line 100 mph and having the proper vision to know when to spin, cut and juke. I think his determination to get an extra yd here and there was just enough at times to over tweak his body. I would have LOVED to have seen what he could've done in his UT career had he been healthy for the entirety.

  • Kiffin's media relation skills are subpar. His coaching is good and his recruiting is elite. He may put his foot in his mouth off the field, but its hard to argue with the product he puts on the field.
