Laughing stock of the league.

  • When you go and read these other sec sites along with other sec fans opinions we currently as Tennessee fans look like the laughing stock of the league. People make fun of us constantly. They don't respect us. People just smirk at Tennessee fans and laugh behind our backs. How long are we going to take it? This is the 8th winningest program in college football history, and nobody gives a damn anymore. All we talk about is either firing a coach or it will get better one day. It needs to get better today! This is TENNESSEE! Not Vanderbilt, or Duke, or Indiana, or Baylor, or whomever. 794-347-53 all time. I hate to be negative guys, but it hurts. I am tired of being the laughing stock of the league and I am split on how to fix it. New coach is a 2 or 3 year process. A win this weekend and winning out could lead to the start or something we have been waiting on with Dooley. This cannot be a decision that is made lightly. We used to go into games with expectations of winning each and every time whether or not the other team was better than us. It didn't matter. We were TENNESSEE. 8th winningest program of all time. Lets start to act like it again.

  • With what we have been through, worrying about some other fans opinion of UT is the least of my worries.
We do need to get it fixed. Take a breath though, maybe walk the dog. :-)

  • Well, for one, people could actually start going to the games instead of abandoning the program. They'll have to realize that supporting the program is not necessarily supporting the coach. I don't know the answer to whether or not we should keep Dooley, but if we abandon the program that could force a quick decision and we don't need that right now. We just have to show pride in what we know we are, a great football program.

  • Agree with OP with this post script...

The 8th winningest program hired a coach with 2 seasons under his belt at La Tech with mixed results.

The 8th winningest program with immaculate facilities and rabid fans deserve a top caliber coach that can restore previous successes.

The time is now to correct the shot gun marriage and bring a top notch coach to the gun fight that is now the secconference.

Doesn't have to be Gruden, BTW.

As for other fans, I really don't care. We all laughed at Bama on the RichRod deal and thought there was no way Saban would come....

  • Frustration is my problem guys. Needed to vent. Appreciate replies. I have put my money into this team this year and coach or no coach, win or loss, rain or shine I will be at the stadium or on the road whenever I can. I bleed this stuff in a way that few feel. Really starting to like this 247 board. Great TENNESSEE supporters here.

I just don't believe even the best coach would have done much better than Dooley has. A little better maybe, but not much. The difference is that a better known coach wouldn't have to take any crap like Dooley has. Dooley has to play nice and not put people in their place because he's a newbie. Saban came into Bama and told them what was up and set the record straight. I'm pretty sure I remember him actually calling out the fanbase at one point in his first year.

  • When it turns around the bus will have some empty seats to be filled up. I do want to point out we are 10th winningest program but I get the op's point.

what do they say about bammers--sidewalk fans, I remember and it was not that long ago they had a fan base that was in the same ss minnow that we now float, it can be turned around and will be turned around.

    Go big orange

If you look at winning percentage we are 9th. If you look at wins we are 8th. Penn State's punishment regulates them down the list. Jut some small info.
