List Dooley's strong points......

  • As it relates to winning.

    Truth Teller

  • Recruiting, put together a pretty good staff, retaining players. Those are some that jump out at me.

This! He's building quality talented depth! For the most part he has kept players out of trouble!

So a signing class the averaged just inside the top 20 and the other 2 where top 15 i think, so in you're opinion thats strong point #1
Lets take you're first one, to me those are just avgerage classes, don't you think UT needs recruiting classes in the 10-15 range and at least top 5-10 once every 2-3yrs?

Put together a pretty good staff is you're #2 strong point
Now you're 2nd one, i don't see anyone on this staff thats special but for maybe Jay Graham

Retaining players is you're #3 strong point
Ok you're 3rd one, as to retaining players what do you mean? we've lost players due to flunkouts and arrests and transfers

Btw, i think most of the strong points you listed are more on hope then reality at this point.

When was the last time we had a good season by our standards? 2007, and even then we were being blown out by our biggest rivals and made it to the SECCG without beating Florida. The UT brand hasn't been really strong for years. I would say a number 9, 13, and 17 class that meets needs is pretty good at this point.

Jay Graham is a good recruiter and coach.
Derrick Ansley is consistently praised as a rising star and good hire.
Sal Sunseri is a great recruiter. But I'll give you the fact that we don't know much about his coaching yet at this level as DC.
Sam Pittman put together some very good O lines at UNC.
Cheney is a very good OC. We saw what he could do with a full team early on.

The Fulmer Cup was named that for a reason. We've been terrible about arrests and dismissals resulting from that. In Dooleys tenure we lost Miles, Janzen, and now Clear to legal issues. Two of those were from Kiffins class. You can't compete without players making it on the field, and at this stage we can't afford a top ten class (2009) that barely sees the field.

The 2007, 2008, and 2009 classes were disasters. You can't accurately judge Dooleys coaching without a full deck, and this year will be the first he has a team even looking like a legit SEC squad.

Come on dude. You have come onto to the board this week with some pretty strong comments against Dooley. You've made your point that you think he's not done nothing, nor will he ever. Do we need another thread on this? You've made your position quite clear.

BTW, just so you guys and girls don't think I'm trying to be overly negative.

The two positives about Dools that gr82bthvol listed are the first two that come to my mind.
