  • I have always and still will support Dooley. I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up. With that being said, I really just hope we will be able to pull in a BIG Fish. If we are going to take the risk of making staff changes, It had better be a home run hire. Otherwise, It will be another rough few years for this program.

I think it is a low risk move making a change at this time from a football and financial standpoint. He has shown no ability to win big games and the fans won't show up next year if he is still the coach.

Dooley still doesn't regret playing for OT late in regulation against Mizzou. Said offense was struggling and he thought they could win in OT.

A reason he needs to go. Not using a TO to get the ball back at the end of the first half was bad enough, but this decision was just flaccid and spineless. Play to win the game.

  • This is just turning into one big ugly mess. Like poster above said, someone isn't telling the truth here and it's just going to turn into a PR nightmare for UT. What's new?banghead

  • I don't think it's a PR nightmare. A lot of people have mentioned before that having a coach in place before the firing is a smart move. I agree and think Hart may be waiting on this.

Do not post often, but just asking that what if we did keep DD and release the coaches on defense and find an outstanding coach for that side of the ball. Everyone seems to blame DD but I think maybe Hart was the big say so in the hiring of the DC. What about our offense? Should DD get credit for one of the best offense in the SEC. I am not crazy and do not and cannot agree with the decision on the last few seconds of the game Sat. I feel that if we cannot get a homerun coach that we may just keep DD and hire a new staff on defense. I would hate to see our line coach and backs coach leave our team.

I'm not ruling that out. Not sure how it would go over with everyone, but it's not the worst scenario.

IlikeDooley, too....but the defensive staff didn't elect to sit on those two time outs at the end of regulation. His game day decision making has been horrendous. Time to cut ties and start over.

  • Very well said, the only homeruns are currently employed and seem happy. Graham and Pittman have done very well and mostly Chaney, but he had abandoned the run too early some games. Sunseri may be a great LB coach, but not a good coordinator. Dooley cuts those ties, and I believe Hart had something to do with the hire, possible Dooley stays. Maybe Al Wilson was at the game for another reason, future employment?

Al.Wilson doesn't have a college degree, which means he cannot coach college football.

I understand, but I feel like if our guys had been maybe taught on how to play better defense and with our offense we would not have been in that situation. I agree with you whole heartly about those final seconds and if that ever came up again I wonder after all the talk this time he would do the same. I think the players are so confused on their assignments that they do not know what or where to go on the field. I was there at Troy and I tell everyone that it does not look near as bad on tv as it does in person. I was very shocked and saddend for Tennessee and you just cannot believe what you are seeing and are speechless at that time.
