The difference between Golden and Dooley which a lot of people like to draw comparisons to is Miami Fans LOVE Al Golden. They think he is getting them back on track and so does people in the media...

There is a reason Golden is sought after.

You mean all 500 fans love him?

  • The only issue that I had with Hubbs was that he wasn't that responsive to questions. However, given the emotional and intellectual IQ of many of the posters over there, I can't really blame him.

The problem that I had with the site was that it was poorly monitored and policed and every thread seemed to eventually evolve to a flaming contest. From what I hear, they are starting to police the site a little closer and some of the worst flamers and posters have been banned.

Hubbs has been consistent in his opinion of a Gruden hire by saying "I'll believe it when I see it". I don't know why so many have an issue with that. He doesn't think it will happen and many in the media - both local and national - share that opinion.

That would not be good in my opinion. If we can't get Gruden/Stoops or maybe Strong, I would be in favor of giving Coach Fulmer another shot over someone like Golden, Mora, Fedora, etc.

Fulmer with Chaney/OC, Chavis/DC, Graham/RB, Martin/WR and OC in waiting, bring back Thompson as LB and DC in waiting, Pittman/OL and Hinshaw/QB . . . at least we could recruit like heck and the fussing would be within the "family".

Maybe I am getting too old, but I don't like this mercenary bs!

Even though, imo, I don't see Hart bringing back Coach Fulmer, if this were the scenario I would highly be in favor. And I think we would stabilize and be back quickly. I still think at the end of the day UT needs UT people and this scenario puts a lot of them back in play for the Vols.

It's very hard for me to push back on this Fulmer coming back thing but I have and will continue to say I don't want him back. I really don't see recruits flocking to UT because he is back. Add to that the fact that no one has hired him or shown much interest since he left and you have a built in recruiting problem. The other teams would have a field day. We are in a difficult spot AGAIN but we have no choice but to trust Hart. It doesn't give me the warm fuzzy's but short of anyone named Petrino I will do my best to support the new coach.

As you guys know, we try to be on and around as much as possible. That means answering questions without bumps and monitoring the posts to keep out the name-calling, etc.

I think that is one of the big reasons our site has grown so fast and so quickly.

That said, we want to keep those policies in place all the time - even when you guys are posting about other sites, etc. I was a bit scared when I saw the first post of this thread, but I should have known all of you would keep it above board.

I think our big success in a short amount of time has actually forced all competitors to make sure they don't take their customers for granted.

Thanks to everyone here for making this place so awesome.

The other big difference is that Golden spent four or five years as a DC at Virginia before becoming a Head Coach.

I am more easy with the idea of Golden but it still does not feel completely right.

Hubbs is sticking to Golden being near the top of Harts list. If that's true, f' Tennessee football, I'm an nfl fan. Don't try to sell me on a guy who went 6-6 last year, then just had a 52-45 thriller against Duke to go 7-5 this year. He went 9-4 and 8-4 the two years before that at temple.

If tenn hires al golden I swear to god I will not watch a single game. If that's all tenn can do, shame on me for cheering for such a program.

i will support the University in whatever decision they make. I would think any true Vol fan would do the same...

tnbear, I am not advocating that Coach Fulmer is the answer to our problems, but I fully believe, that with the right staff, he could enjoy success once more on the Hill. I believe that he would show an intensity that we have not seen since his "early days".

As far as his recruiting goes, IF he can bring back Chavis, bring Tee home and retain Graham and Pittman, I think recruiting would improve. What would really intrigue me would be the play-calling if Chaney is retained. Chaney wants to throw every down and Fulmer likes to "pound the rock". It could make for a very interesting offense!

Again, Fulmer is far from #1 on my list, but if we strike out on some of the top targets, I would rather see Fulmer than some of these other guys . . .

"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!

  • The problem with Golden and his ilk is they will not have any room for error with the fans because of his poor overall record as a head coach. If things start going in his 2nd year he will like Dooley did start losing the fan base because there is nothing in his record to have hope that it will get better. I do not think Golden has proven he can recruit at an elite level that we will need to compete in the SEC.

Still not sure but I would support anyone but Petrino and I would now add Tressel.
