WebMD states that after the initial injury, it takes 2-3 weeks to get better. I'm going to bet he has been under the R.I.C.E. treatment soon after the conclusion of the NC State game and the training staff is all over this. The fact that he was seen on campus with a boot exemplifies the significant treatment and rehab he is undergoing. I'm with Drizzle on this one - no way he stays out of this game!

From a medical standpoint? No. Turf toe is what it is and when you see the people out for months with it, it's because they keep re-aggravating it.

I just want to make most of you aware that if Maggitt really has a case of turf toe (like Dooley said) and he really sat out most of the week of practice this week, it is very unlikely he'll play against Florida. And if he does play, he'd be very limited and likely to re-injure it.
This seems to be overlooked a bit at this point by the fan base. Turf toe is one of the worst injuries for a football player to have.

Yes. It's a sprain of the joint between a toe and the foot. 95% of the time, it's the big toe involved. It disallows you from flexing your toe at that joint without severe pain, and because of the location of the joint, it is extremely difficult to tape or brace in a way that protects the joint but also allows reasonable motion.
Just a really sucky injury for an athlete.

Yeah, it sucks. It's painful. Every step hurts, even with a brace. It expedited the end of Deion Sanders' career. Same for Calvin Hill and Jack Lambert in the old days.
If it's a bad one, it's bad. Takes forever to heal. But I've seen Maggitt walking around, and he's not walking too gingerly or wincing, and he's doing some stuff on the side in practice. I don't think it's a severe case. But I'm not the expert here, obviously.
