Mark Richt

  • After thinking a little bit about the question he got asked last night in the post game presser about some people saying him and murray cant win the big games. All thoughts about Mark Richt aside, I truly like the way he stands up for his players.

I grew up with Murray and he truly is a hard working, good player. I comment the way UGA played yesterday (that took a lot to say being a UT fan), but I do hope we get a coach similar to Richt who stands up and supports his players as much as he does, its been a while.

Well, we know Gundy stands up for his players. He's a man! He's 44!

God that will never get old. In fact, how far will it be taken if we hire him?

Not a fan of Gundy but if we do hire him they should play this song at least once every game inside Neyland.

  • I don't want a Richt type coach. The question asked was an accurate one. He has not won a big game when it mattered.

    VOLmaniac

  • Maybe be hasn't, but he sure did put together one hell of an attempt last night. He has won 2 SEC championships (2002, 2006) and has played in 6 SEC championships. At least he is giving them a shot. I would be careful to hate on Richt. This university would die to just be playing in those games. If we had Richts kind of success you wouldn't complain so much

Your saying your university would die to be playing in games like that and if y'all had Richt's success you wouldn't complain much. But you do realize you had a coach with the exact same 2 sec championships and 6 divisional titles that you fired in 2008. And unlike Richt he was also able to win the big one.

Now that your university has swung and missed on Gruden, it's time you learn from K-State and make things right in East Tennessee. We schools in the west need the Bama slayer to return.

We are not rehiring Fulmer. This isn't Kansas State. This is Tennessee. Yes I am defending Mark Richt, but Richt still isn't Fulmer. He doesn't have a national title. But to think Richt is not a great football coach is a bit absurd. Defending Richt is a good thing. By the way, Bill Synder doesn't have a national title either.

To say Fulmer isn't a good coach is also crazy. The man had only 2 losing seasons in 16 years, 1 yr removed from the seccg and a 10 win season what the hell do you people want, let's just face it mike Hamilton sucked and we will never get a nick saban because there is only 1 of him. I think we could do a lot worse with butch jones than with Fulmer IMO but my opinion doesn't matter. Mark richt and Fulmer are ALOT alike.

I didn't say Richt was a bad coach, I respect him as well. And no it's not K-State you are correct in saying that it is Tennessee, but as you saw in the last coaching search and it is starting to appear now doesn't mean near as much as it did when Fulmer was winning the east every 3rd year. I know I'm an outsider and don't know the half of it, but I was always a Fulmer fan from the outside, and was just responding to the OP's point that if y'all has the same success Georgia had under Richt, you would not complain as much.

I personally would enjoy seeing UT get back to winning, I'm a Mississippi State fan, but I have always had a soft spot for UT because I enjoyed watching Peyton when I was younger, and anybody that hates Bama to the level y'all do, I have to respect. I hope nothing but the best for y'all, but I still believe outside of a home run, your way better off in giving the hall of famer a chance to get things back on the right track than to waste another 3 years on a Dooley type hire.

I agree. Never said Philip wasn't a good coach. Was the best we have had in the last 30 years. I was defending him in comparison to Richt and Snyder

  • The guy asking the question is a sports jock on 790 the zone here in Atlanta & a Auburn grad. He & most of the jocks on 790 make a living stirring it up. While the last 15 seconds of the game were not managed well by UGA, the program has nothing to hang it's head on with that loss. I was in the dome last night & it was an amazing college gameday atmosphere. I can't see the BCS title game having a better atmosphere than what the SECC gameday brings every year.
