Martin: McRae best in SEC

    Before any reporter had the chance to tee it up Monday, Cuonzo Martin let it fly. UT's coach thinks Vols junior guard Jordan McRae should be named SEC Player of the Year.

    If he returns along with stokes and Maymon for next year,shouldn't we expect to win the SEC?Not trying to get to far ahead,just kinda been wondering along those lines this year.So what would you say?,Hypothetically of course.

    It's possible but look at kentucky's incoming recruiting class, they're bringing 5 McDonald's all americans. That's never been done before I'm pretty sure.

    Does Kentucky have any other one-and-done candidates besides Noel? Curious to see who they will have returning to go along with their incoming class.

    Is CCM thinking somebody is leaving early? He has at his scholarship limit and still recruiting the guy out if Blackman hard. Somebody leaving for the draft or somebody going to be asked to leave program?

    JMO, but the only players in the conversation should be McRae, Henderson, Caldwell-Pope, Pressey, Turner, Releford and O'Bryant III.

    And Texas A&M being under .500 in SEC play and Georgia being under .500 overall would make it hard for me to vote for Turner or Caldwell-Pope. Great as they are, their teams haven't won enough, IMO.

    I wanna say UT should win the SEC next year and UT could easily be Top 15 or Top 10 if all the pieces come back and gel. But if Noel returns and UKs class is as good as people in recruiting industry think it is UK would not just be #1 in the SEC they might be #1 in the country.

  • Could see McRae going pro. Hope not, of course, but I could see it. Just can't see Stokes doing it. Another year to work on his game would make him a lot more money when he does go. Vols!!

  • What about the UF guys? Boyton, Wilbikin , Young or Murphy. I love Mcrae but his dee is average as grits. Wilbikin is just a beast on Dee and he really does a good job at the PG spot for UF. Murphy and Boyton have been really good (not against us). I do think Mcrae deserves all SEC but I think its a reach to vote him fro POY. Glad that he has elevated his game. Its interesting that he was a non starter at the beginning of the year and now we are talking about him as POY.

    I would say all of Kentucky's current team will be one and done. With the class they have coming in, there just won't be enough spots for everyone to stay and play as much as they are this year. Wiltjer will probably go pro as well.

    I've been wondering the same thing since this whole issue of Blackman reopening his recruitment came up. Where is the scholarship coming from? Never considered the possibility of an academic scholarship being used in the short term. Wonder what the NCAA rules are for this type of arrangement? I'm sure there are some.

    Would be the worst mistake Stokes would ever make leaving for the pros. He isn't near ready yet, he isn't a center and he doesn't have the 4's inside outside game needed in the pros, no jumper beyond five feet. When he consistently knock down 15 to 17 foot jumpers then he will be ready
