Mike Farrell ...

  • Two days ago, he said that Vonn Bell was a very heavy UT lean and that his family was completely on board with him being a Vol and he officially switched his prediction on Bell from OSU to UT based on what he'd heard from OSU sources, UT sources and Bell's family. Now, he's flipping his prediction BACK to Ohio State "after getting some info."

Seriously, Mike? Seriously? You are becoming a laughing stock at this point. This is the same guy who called Lawson to UT and North to UNC the day North committed to us. And to base your change in prediction off of "getting some info?" Well, that couldn't possibly get any more broad, could it? Why don't you elaborate, Mike? What info did you get? Who did it come from? Why don't you stop reading tea leaves, do your job, talk to some people, and then report what is told to you?

I swear I'm gonna stop my Rivals subscription. Hubbs and Co. do a good job, but VQ posters and Rivals' national "reporters" are an absolute comedy show...

You are right here. Until a kid signs the dotted lines and faxes in the LOI, school preferences can change, which means reports and predictions change. Unlike others that are solid to a particular school, Bell hasn't even given a public verbal to a school. I hope people respect the kid's decision if he doesn't pick UT and layoff of twitter and message boards with negative rants and comments. It will be huge if this kid picks UT over the National Champs and the only undefeated school in FBS last year- over Saban and Meyer. UT may be facing a situation where losing out on some talented recruits has Bell and his family rethinking this a little. Talented kids want to play with other talented kids and although UT has some talented kids recruited, the verbal commitment lists at Bama and Ohio State look better. No kid wants to go to a school and lose. I am hopeful UT will win under Jones, maybe hope isn't good enough when you're the one who has to live with the possibility of not having enough talent to compete with the big boys.

  • There is a thread on VQ right now started by Farrell where he stated he thought Bell was going to sign with UT, the first 87 responses were all praising Mike but now that he has changed his prediction UT fans are calling him names saying he is FOS because he is no longer saying what they want to hear. This site is no different and god forbid anyone say anything that isn't 100% favorable about Tennessee.

I think it's important to realize that recruting is a very fluid process with a lot of change constantly going on. I'm not saying Farrel is wrong, but I'm with you in that it would be nice for him to elaborate on "getting some info" in order to further back his claim.

  • Let's all not jump off a cliff here people. I know we have been conditioned to expect the worst here over the last few years, but I for one am not freaking out. Farrell's tweet said one key word "COULD". These so called "recruiting experts" aren't always right. In fact they are wrong as many times as they are right. Wasn't it Mike Farrell who said MarQuez North was leaning towards UNC the day he committed to UT? He obviously got some wrong info in that case. Who's to say hasn't received some misleading info in this case too? All I'm saying is the "experts" don't know what a 17-18 year old kid is thinking, as much as they wish they did. But, it's not their fault for reporting what they hear, that's their job. Let's all just take a deep breath and step back from the ledge.

I agree, nice points. 5 star kids wants to play to play against the best but they also wants to be on a winning team. If Bell wasn't a stauch UT kid growing up, we wouldn't even be in the pic, IMO.... If Urban and Nick aren't wearing their champ rings when they meet recruits they are probably on the desk somewhere, and kids like bling... I like what CBJ is doing but he's going against the best in these 2, so this would be bigger than Lawson, again IMHO.

Farrell is becoming increasingly irrelevant. I'm not saying that because he now claims Bell "could" go to tOSU, but because his opinion changes more often than a stripper's underwear...

    +1

Sure, some people get mad whenever anyone says UT doesn't lead but any reporter that's constantly wrong and keeps switching opinions is going to lose credibility quickly.

sadly you would be happy if what he says is true so you can start another thread bashing coaches
