Mike MacIntyre...I played for him at UTM

  • Coach Mac is a good guy. I played for him at UTM his first year there when he coached DB's and was co-Defensive coordinator. Very interesting guy...

The players liked him, but didn't love him. I say this because Jerry Reese (Now GM for the NY Giants) was our DB coach the year before and everyone loved Coach Reese. Coach Mac knew the X's and O's of defense really well, however, he didn't call the defensive plays. Drew Fabianich, scout for the Dallas Cowboys, called all the defensive plays.

The interesting thing that I think he could bring from a staff perspective is that Kacy Rodgers and Marion Hobby were on our staff at UTM while coach Mac was there. I would love to have one of those guys on staff, especially Marion. He is a GREAT guy and an amazing recruiter.

At this point I would say he is as good as anyone else, but I question whether he is ready to be a head coach in the SEC....Just my opinion.

Nice post Vick. When did you play at UTM? I currently go to school there and I'm heavily involved in athletics. Did you happen to keep up with the team this year?

  • I played there from 92-93. I was a student assistant 94-95 after ACL & MCL tear.

Yes, I did keep up with them...a shame we lost the games we did at the end.

What do you do at UTM?

  • I think Mike would be a good choice for us. He knows the Sec and has even coached in the pros. I know coach cut loves him.

I work in the sports information department.

Yeah it is a shame. If we would have beaten Tech, we would have made the playoffs.
