I hate to be "that" guy, but I've never been a huge fan of Miles and thought he was overrated. Good player, but a tweener IMO, not a safety who can run sideline to sideline like we need. I'm not upset losing this one.

Not surprised. Best of luck to him. If we get the right coach, recruiting will pick up steam IMO.

Sounds like WR Paul Harris is a little loose on us too. TOS has an article about him being commited to the coaches, not the school.

That wouldn't be wise no matter where or who a recruit chooses to sign with.
Anyway, we've most likely got 2 more years of Randolph and at least 2 more with McNeil so I'm not gonna lose sleep over losing Miles.

At least he came out in November instead of de-commiting at the last minute. I don't think UT thought his commitment was that solid anyways.

I hope the Hart and Co. make an announcement one way or the other sooner rather than later. Even with a potential bowl game, we need the month of December to really get aggressive with recruits. I believe when need a new coach, but if Dooley somehow stays, he has my support and best hopes because I'm going to cheer the Vols regardless.

I expect a few more of our commitments are very soft right now + I have always thought 2-3 guys would not sign with us for various reasons and that was with Dooley winning out going 7-5. We could be as low as 13-14 true solid commitments that if NSD was tomorrow would sign. I think we have an ok core group all considering but we have a lot of work to do but it will all depend who's next.

These kids need to settle down. Signing day is a few months away. If they de-commit and the new coach is a stud, then it may be too late for them to recommit. Patience.

This kid isn't leaving because of the current situation, he said a long time ago he wanted to go to A & M if they offered, everyone needs to quit being so negative. It doesn't help the team at all. If he don't want orange we don't need him no matter who is coaching.

Guess we're putting a lot of eggs in the Von Bell basket, then! I liked Miles and hate to see him go, but I'd consider Bell a more-than-satisfactory consolation prize! :D
Hope the kid does well at TA&M... except when the Vols torch 'im! :p

who ever the new coach is he may not want some of our recruits. some of our commitments may not be the type player that would figure in to his program.

I've never been sold on Miles or his commitment. If your an elite football player in Texas then the other UT will offer. And for him to just now get an offer from aTm is a little suspect. Even Texas having a few down yrs they get whoever they want and they didn't want him. He also never seemed solid to UT anyway, I'm sure a commit to the coach and not the school. Safety is our least concern on D IMO with Randolph and McNeill. We need CBs

Don't pretend that we don't need this kid. Heck we could've used him this year. We need depth at all the secondary positions.
I saw this coming and I don't blame him one bit. Look at how aTm is playing vs. the Vols. and much closer to home.

It's going to take the right hire to get recruiting back to where it needs to be. You can't have the budget Tennessee has and have so little to show for it in return.
