Monday question for the board***

  • What does the new staff do with these players? Where do you see the best fit?

    Alden Hill (LB?)
    Justin King (LB?)
    Jason Croom (back to WR?)
    Brent Brewer (LB?)

  • I agree with what you out.. 3 to LB and Crrom back to WR during the Spring and if they don't like him there I could see him at TE come time to play a game but I definitely think they give him a shot at WR during Spring Practice

  • Havent seen enough of HIll to know where he fits...I think King has to stay at LB. He's a great athlete with good speed. Reminds me of the LB Chavis used to like.
Croom, i cant help but see him as a TE/HB. A Sterling Sharp/Owen Daniels/Jimmy Graham hybrid type of guy. Tight end size with WR speed..You could put him out wide, in the slot, even inside to run block if he gets his strength up. A guy like Croom can be really versatile if the staff is creative enough. As for Brewer, i just think he has to play LB at this point. he seems too big and a step slow to play safety anymore. jmho.

    Interesting thought on Croom.

    100% agree on Brewer.

I think Hill will stay at RB. He deserves a chance. King probably LB, Croom will be interesting, I liked the thought of him at TE. We will only have 2 on the roster for spirng practice. Brewer is a lost cause, I don't think he will ever be effective at LB or Saftey. Just stick him on special teams.

Hill- could transfer in the summer (pure guess) or move to FR/HB or TE or smaller chance of LB
King- needs to be used where he can play the most bc IMO he is a good football player.......OLB or TE/Hback
Croom- gets his shot at WR but still may grow into a stand up TE or do both
Brewer- gets a shot a SS but IMO he just is not a good football player in regards to starting in the SEC. Not physical enough for OLB and not fast enough/ esp with reaction time for S

like other posters, haven't seen enough out of Hill to know for sure... but a bruising type back could be a good fit for his system while using the smaller speedy type backs all over the place. The others I think you nailed except possibly Brewer. If we don't add at least another safety, we may need him there.

i was going to post just that exact thought about Brewer, but, i cant help but think if they guy can add 10-15 pounds he might be an effective LB..esp given our depth there..I know this, the guy likes to hit, and he brings more than his lunch with him when he does..

    Hill - LB
    King - LB
Croom - I think he'll be TE before it's said and done, WR initially
Brewer - I don't know. I've been saying LB for 2 years, but his tackling hasn't impressed me. That said, it's a lot harder to tackle in space.. so idk.

The only one I see making a real change is King back to LB. I think Hill can still be a RB and Brewer can still play safety and some LB in the sub packages. I think Croom plays WR for us, but could be used as a hybrid player. We actually have a lot of athletes that I see playing multiple roles for us: Pig, DY, King, AJ, Maggit, Brewer, and probably a few I'm leaving off.
