Cuonzo Martin's Tennessee Volunteers won't look a whole lot like Bruce Pearl's Vols of old. But some who played for both said that doesn't have to be a bad thing.

Great stuff, Wes. Love Bruce, but I think CM is looking like a better hire all the time.
Wes, can you tell a difference in conditioning at all just eyeballing the players?

Deep down players want the discipline & accountability. Coach Pearl did great things but Coach Martin will make a name for himself. May take a while but program will be in good hands.

Wes this a very uplifting and well written report. I needed some positive vibes from the Vols after all the frustration from football today. Very entertaining to read the comparisons and contrasts with the old and new staff. These BB kids seem to be buying into the 3D philosophy of defense, development and discipline. If they are as tough and motivated as Zo was growing up and winning his health battle , this team can be special.

Between Pat Summitt and Cuonzo Martin, there is an unyielding commitment to defense and discipline. Even as much as I enjoyed watching the teams of the last few years run up and down the court with reckless abandon, this is what I'd like the "brand" of Tennessee Basketball to look like. Martin's 3 D's are the pillars that make a program successful for the long term.
