My Christmas List

  • My list is a little different than most, but here it goes:
    Gruden
    Gundy
    Stoops
    Dungy
    Jack Del Rio

  • I'm good with that. First I've heard of Dungy but I kind of like that suggestion. Not so sure about Del Rio though-and what he would bring to the table

I would be very happy with that list. Although i do think Dungy is a much bigger long shot than Gruden, i did see somebody float that rumor on one of the boards for a day or so and it died oit pretty quickly. I do like Del Rio. Fiery, defensivevguy with NFL HC experience. Probably the next USC coach though.

  • Dick Vitale tweeted to Dungy yesterday that he should coach at Tennessee and return to helping build young men (paraphrasing). That tweet obviously carries no weight but I like that idea, maybe even better than Gruden.

He just said that so as not to offend the FSU lurkers trolling our board, scared they'll lose their own coach to us. Didn't anybody tell you, "Dungy" is code for "Fisher"?

  • Del Rio brings a very bright defensive mind to the table, and in my opinion this is what Tennessee is lacking! He has been a head coach in the NFL, and look what he has done this year with Broncos.. One thing I have noticed from the Broncos this year, is as the game goes on, he is able to make the adjustments necessary to correct what problems his defense has the game progresses. To me this is a sign of a good coach. being able to recognize what is wrong, and being able to correct it before half time,or at half time. We don't have a bad offensive coordinator, if you will look at where Tennessee ranks in alot of offensive categories, we are in the top 35. In this scenario, Chaney might stay, Pittman stays, Graham stays, Tee Martin is welcome home. We are in need of a great special teams coach, if we are going to compete in the SEC, you have to win the kicking game, Del Rio understands special teams. Several talk about him leaving in the future for another job, why couldn"t Tennessee put a huge buy out in his contract, similar to what the coaches get when they leave! I am sure a 25-30 million buyout would eliminate many schools from wanting to sign our coach.
