  • Beazy, go back and look at Tennessee's record, year by year, starting with '78 when Majors got the job. It took years before he could consistently beat the best teams in the SEC, and the league wasn't nearly as tough back then as it is now.

Voldog69, love you man. Hang with us in the weeks to come. It's going to be tough for us stay the course guys. We know we are right, but the argument will get tougher as we host Bama and go to Columbia. We need to stick with Dooley and let Hart call the shots, not the hot heads in the peanut gallery.

Tell me why? You say this but can't back it up.

Tell me who we are going to hire that is going to make us win 9 or more games next year? I mean that is what it's going to take to make all of yall quiten down a bit.

RockyTop is one of the way crazy Dooley supporters. He has been since I've been oj this board.

    He's wrong. It happens.

Tell us how he's wrong? The guy is our head coach. He is here right now. It's wrong to count him out and start naming other coaches you want before he's even been fired. It's not even about opinion there. It's disrespectful.

Read the original post. We want to be good enough to beat ranked teams, but we aren't there yet. You can't turn an SEC program around in three years. You can't recruit well enough until you win, and you can't win until you can recruit better.

The next guy you guys would hire could do no better and he may do a helluva lot worse. The guy we have deserves to have a roster of guys he recruited over four years.

It gets tougher to say, but the message hasn't changed. Stay the course. The alternative is very likely an even longer period in the wilderness.

Our fanbase is ridiculous. "I have chilled for three years of this." I mean we aren't on the field. These players want to win too. I mean, Dooley didn't rip the ball out of Devrin Young's arms. Dooley didn't tell Rivera to stand there and watch someone else recover the ball on a kickoff. I'm not saying he's the answer, but I'm saying that everyone is being ridiculous. We most certainly aren't a bad football team. We have a bad defense, but I think our offense is well above average. We give every team a run for their money. Would I rather see more wins? Yes. BUT bad teams get blown out. We haven't been blown out yet.

Fla blew us out, and we have given up 119 points to 3 SEC foes this year so far... Drown that with orange coolaid.

It is no way disrespectful. He is the head coach of a TEAM that plays a SPORT of which we are all fans of. He has done a mediocre job. And when dollars I spend directly support the TEAM he coaches, I have every right to state whether I think there needs to be a change or not.

This isn't a reverend, my boss, or the president. It's a freaking coach.

  • It's a process and we've worked through the phases. We've been blown out. We've played a good half . We've come close and collapsed. We've just now started competing four quarters. This phase is excruciating - the tough close losses. Hold fast. The next phase is winning these games.

GO ask the following Saban, Meyer, and Muschamp if you need more than 2 years to turn a SEC program around. That isn't even counting Chizik at Auburn who won his NC his 2nd year there.

I can't emphasize this enough. Stop making EXCUSES for Dooley.

NONE of those coaches took over programs that were as depleted roster-wise as Tennessee, and NONE of them played one of the 5-10 toughest schedules in the nation their first two seasons, either. You can't simply compare those situations without comparing all of the factors in play. It's not about making "excuses" for Dooley, it's about accepting the reality of the situation he inherited (one that Muschamp passed on, BTW), and recognizing that another coaching change at this stage would set this program back even further.

  • Dooley couldn't win at la tech now la tech has been playing well since Dooley left. Realize we lose because of the coaching decisions from a guy who is not cut out to be in the sec.

  • I am as disappointed as anyone on this board, but we all need to step back. I have been following UT football since my days on "The Hill" during the Bill Battle regime and I still haven't recovered from watching North Texas State beat us. I think CDD needs another year. We have had the toughest schedule for UT football in the last 3 years that I can ever recall. It hurts that our rebuild is occurring at the time when the SEC is dominating college football in general. Are we great? No. Are we good? At times. Are we better than last year? Yes. Last year we were out of the games by the 4th quarter. Now we are in them and with a chance to win. I think this team truly does not know how to win. At some point, it will click and we can all be happy again. If we fire CDD we will be set back again in the all important recruiting wars. It's obvious, we don't have the athletes for the defense we have chosen to go with, but I believe we will get them. Give this staff another year at least. I feel that we are getting so much closer even as painful as it is right now.

You do realize that FL, USC, UGA, and Bama will be on the schedule every year, right?

  • This is just a merry go round some of us want him gone for good reason and some want him to stay for good reason. I say we let it go till the end of season let's see what happens. If we get better then 1 one more year if we keep looking like we did last night we need to start thinking about a change that's fair. I've heard all this about our roster and stuff but at some point pure coaching and motivation should win a few big games and we just don't have it. Bash me if ya want it is what it is. Dooley should have won more games.

Look at the roster saban, muschamp, and Meyer inherited they were full of talent, this team now has talent but not enough in the 2 & 3 deep to win against the teams we lost to.If we had the talent in the 2 @ 3 deep like those coaches did we would be 6-0.

We don't have the talent defensively as starters to win. Heck with 2/3 deep.

Our tackles aren't bad and neither is two of our LB's. Our Ends are not very good and with Maggit hurt, we are down one other LB. Our secondary is awful and was even with Randolph.

There is still no excuse to give up 41 to MSU. Freakin MSU. You will see how not so great they are in two weeks when Bama gets done with them.

I can take losing close games against good teams. I can't take losing and looking bad doing it against teams we should beat. End of discussion. We look like a poorly coached team because we are. Can't tackle, can't be in position to tackle, can't have the right ppl on the field, can't field a kick, throw off our back foot, ect, ect, ect, ect, ect.

And remember this, people....IT'S A GAME!!!! Not life but a freaking game.........I am as upset as anyone but come on......get a grip. Last year we lost games by scores of 38-7, 37-6, 49-7, no blowouts this year...yet, anyway. We are more competitive, but our defense is killing us. Maybe it's because we all WANTED and maybe rightfully EXPECTED things to be much better is why we are so bitterly disappointed. The close games seem to hurt more than the blowouts of last year.

  • I agree and have been a Vol fan for 50 years, have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. I have never once blamed a coach, a player as they do not intentionally want to lose. I would suggest that some people should consider that these are people you are disrespecting and it is completely embrassing to think a true Vol would hate on its team and coach. I think there are about six posters that should get their own board and have fun posting negative posts. I think most rational people understand we have not played to our ability and are disappointed, however making the same comments about replacing this guy or that and why are we playing that guy instead of someone else is old and very destructive to the Vol program. Why not talk about how we can help get the things this team and coach need and that is strong support from its fan base. If I were a parent and listen to some of this chatter it would be a cold day in hades before he attended a University that their fans treated its players and coach the way some of the posters on this board have done. I will be a Vol fan until they drag the orange and white out of my cold dead hand.

Hey we are 3-3 getting ready to go to 3-5....We are not good, we are mediocre....we are 0-3 in the SEC getting ready to be 0-5 , is that good???????

    FLA--6-0
    UGA-5-1
    MSU-6-0

    UA-6-0
    USCe- 5-1

Which part of this meat grinder to you just not get? What have we done to lead you to believe we should have been on the good side of any of those games? The players are better, we will be 6-6 or 7-5 this year.

Is it good--NO but is it where we really should be? yes we are in a new system on the D and this is not a situation we can go out and get players to fit our needs, we got our D in just prior to the last signing class and worked all of one year.

Look at the Washington Nationals-best record in bb, the Cardinals have a never quite team that has the past to look back on at what is good. Does that mean the Cards are better than the Nationals==no but in this case they had the experience and leaders on the filed and in the club house to give them the winning edge--Manager Mike Matheny is not Tony L. yet the Cards had players that are leaders--the Vols do not have those players yet and they need to get them and soon or it could be a while to get on the same path we all want them to be on.
