    ahh Thanks!
Anyone know when he is expected to be back??? He is our 2nd best player in the secondary behind PreSwagg IMO

  • He is also like three feet tall.

  • That was not supposed to go here, sorry. I was talking about Eric Gordon being to short. He is fast and very strong, but I don't think he has the height to play big SEC receivers one on one.

  • This has been a fun thread to read. One thing that I think will impact the secondary is the addition of a coach specifically for cornerbacks. Safeties and corners have very different responsibilities and I think this will help the corners out significantly. I look forward to some aggressive play from the corners and predict more INTs this coming year.

  • Personally i dont care to start freshman. I want the best 11 whiever they are. This starting older guys just cause they have been there is a Fulmer thing and i am glad we have moved on from that. If McNeil Gray or Bonner are better than what we have play them. And i would start Sentimore MCullers and OBrien clog up all running lanes and allow our linebackers to come free on blitzes, be unblocked for stopping the run, or have the ability to drop them in coverage because we have 900 pounds of ass whooping across the front. Just saying. Either way i cant wait for August.

You know how they say players have to adjust to the speed of the game when going from college to the NFL? The same goes for high school to college.

Most freshmen haven't encountered the speed or strength of SEC players so freshmen who aren't wide receivers or RBs usually need to be put into the game slowly. SEC offenses will quickly take advantage of any inexperience of a freshman on the field.

That's why I don't like freshmen starting. However after the midway point of the season I'm fine with it because they have had time to adjust. So I think we will we bonner and McNeil more as the season goes on because they are clearly talented players.

  • I believe lanier is going to start at corner along with waggner. I just think lanier is a shutdown corner he impressed me last year but watch out for McNeil to start at one of the safety that kid is the real deal. I had a friend of mine who went to school with him and said don't be shocked if he starts.

  • Great Thread! This really got me thinking about August. Everybody has already said everything I had, but I will repeat that Sentimore is going to be a stud. I have heard nothing bad about this kid as far as physical size and ability.

Agreed about Sentimore... DLine in a 3-4 is a really tough job and will beat the crap out of you... so I expect to see a lot of our DLine play... its nice to have depth there and be able to rotate them out.

Brewer moving to linebacker has crossed my mind as well. I agree with Ryan that he struggled at safety last year. That's part of the reason I created the thread last week predicting McNeil would be our starting safety in the dome against NC State. The other part of my reasoning (based on my opinion of his highlights) is that McNeil is the best tackler at safety I've ever seen at the high school level.

Anyway, back to Brewer at LB.. I think it has potential. I can remember the first time I saw him on TV I didn't know who he was because he looked like an LB. Alec Ogletree, one of UGA's starters at inside LB is a converted safety and it worked out well for them. I think moving Brewer to LB is something the coaches should consider, especially if McNeil is as good as ppl think he is.

One of the main concerns with making a change like that however would be the depth at safety. Who would backup McNeil and Randolph? Maybe move Waggner back to safety if something happens and slide in a backup CB.. maybe Byron Moore comes in ready to play and can provide help at safety. Maybe Teague could move to safety. You're right there are endless things that could happen.

I've attached some photos of Brewer. He looks like an LB to me.
