Neal eager to return Saturday

After missing a second game — but the first one he didn't expect to miss — top UT tailback Rajion Neal said he "definitely" wants to return for Saturday's game against Troy.

  • Hopefully we run the ball this weekend and control the clock. I'd like to see at least one of the backs get a 100 yard game Saturday.

  • "Neal said he’d want to return in any circumstance, but he said this team’s ability to remain positive and unified through tough times makes him even more eager to get back on the field and finish November with a flurry."

This is great to hear, Wes! Sounds like the team is responding very well after another tough stretch. Initially, I though November could be real ugly but it doesn't sound like these guys are gonna let that happen.

  • It's an odd irony that the passing game is the strength of our offense, but we must control the clock on the grpund to keep our defense off the field. Let's hope Neal is close to 100% Saturday and let's dominate the TOP.

  • Further to that thought "..to keep our defense off the field", why are we rushing our offense with the no huddle? Seems like that we put our defense back out there sooner by doing that. Things I just don't understand....are many I guess.

  • I know that if successful, the no huddle will eventually wear down the defense, but we may be shooting ourselves in the foot by putting our defense back on the field when they are leaking like a sieve.

  • Of course if you can score every time like oregon does, then it doesn't matter how fast you do it or haw bad your D is.

  • The hurry up also helps the run game, gives Defenses less time for adjustments on the fly. It's a double edge sword we've been riding all season. We've been cut to ribbons a few times, yet we've had a shot at winning all but the Bama game. It could ahve been had some bad decisions from Chaney on Offense being truly stupefying. As a whole our Vols are not as bad as their Record of 3-5. We will know for sure after November.

I agree. I think this team is only a play or player or two from being really good. Even the Alabama game woudl have been much different if a couple of plays would have been made. What surprised me is that I thought at the beginning of the year the secondary was going to be the strength of our defense, now it appears to be the weakness. I really feel that this team can make a new identity for itself by dominating the teams it is supposed to beat in November, get to a mid level bowl game, win it and solidify a reasonably good recruiting class.
