Heard it was grade issue on Leggett? don't know if that is true or not but with Marshall's past history I took it for what it was worth. tfwiw

The only reason Leggett would choose Marshall is because of grades, if he signs with them then he must already know he would not make it into the UT.
Guess we might have room for E.Loften again lol....I kid I kid.

We all know about Leggett's grade concerns but with Tennessee not lookign like it's going to sign a full class there is no reason to not take a chance on him.

It's Leggett that is reportedly having the cold feet... evidently he is scared of signing with Tennessee, not getting in, and then being left out in the cold.
He could supposedly be seeing Marshall as a "safe" bet.
It's not about Tennessee taking a chance on Leggett, it's about Leggett taking a chance on Tennessee.

It's not about Tennessee taking a chance on Leggett, it's about Leggett taking a chance on Tennessee.

Obviously its all hearsay at this point, but if that is the case, then good for this young man. Maybe, football for him is first priority and not academics, but I applaud the kid taking initiative to be certatin he gets into a 4 year program where he can succeed on and off the field. If it is Tennessee, I will welcome him, but if not, I wish him the best at Marshall and hope his grades improve at a 4 year University with all the academic support that institution can provide him.

I don't understand why Marshall would be any easier to get into than Tennessee.

I couldn't disagree more. He could definitely pick Marshall because he's more comfortable there. Despite what outsiders think, not many kids take the "biggest" offer just because it's the biggest offer. Doc Holiday is a great recruiter and Marshall is a great place with a close-knit tradition. If he picks them, it could be because he's comfortable with Marshall and Tennessee showed up late to the party.

If I am not mistaken Conference USA qualifying standards are generally speaking less than the SEC. I don't have all the details on issues like this, but I know the NCAA sets standards as minimum and then each conference and then each school can add additional requirements if they choose.

The only time I've ever heard of a recruit not being able to qualify based on SEC standards is when a Juco or prep school player doesn't qualify because he didn't pass the "extra math class" (College Algebra I think). I'm not saying that's the only requirement that's different it's just the only one I've ever heard of
