Not shocked at all- but if being a Tiger fan is not already embarrasing enough!

From '01-'05 MTSU went 3-0 vs Vandy. I grew up in the 'Boro and was proud of MTSU. Not surprised but proud. Pretty sure UTM will have sililar results if they play Memphis 3 times.

Please don't bring up the fact that MTSU just lost their home opener to McNeese State - didn't even know they had a football team.

just one more reason to give it away to the state of Mississippi.

Are you saying that UTM is more academically rigorous than Memphis University? I'm only asking b/c I'm a UTM alum. Either way, it was funny to see the 'lil Tigers get beat by the Skyhawks! (Probably the biggest win in UTM's history; shows you how much of a football pedigree we lack)

I said it in jest. I went to UTM as a freshman in '89 and spent more time in Cadillac's and frat houses than I did in class. After a year UTM sent me ( and my full ride scholarship) packing. I ended up going to JUCO and eventually dropping out of school. Spent a year in a manufacturing plant and that was truly the best education I ever received. Made me decide to get serious about school and my life. That is when I returned to school and have received both my B.S. and M.S. from Memphis and am completing my Ph.D. now. Memphis has provided me with an excellent education, however I would have received just as good of an education at UTM if I had put forth the effort. With that being said, I have had several friends that played football, baseball, and golf at U of M and am a very close relative of someone very high up in U of M athletic department (he is a UTK grad BTW), however I cannot ever find myself rooting for U of M because of their arrogant basketball fans.

If you say anything bad about Memphis- race always gets brought up. I enjoy the city a lot!

I love the city of Memphis and love the University from an academic standpoint. In fact, I would love to live in downtown Memphis somewhere close to the trolley line. I would be eating some of the best food in America nightly and enjoying great entertainment. I would still choose to root for the Big Orange and drive east weekly to see them play. If that makes me a racist, so be it.

Funny the amount of ignorance by people on UT message boards about Memphis. This city has its share of problems. But there's also a ton of successful, wealthy people here. It's got more personality than any other city in the state and better food. I choose to live here - no one forces me to. It would be nice if I didn't have to spend 16k a year for elementary school tuition, but most of my friends in Knoxville have felt forced to move into the Farragut school system to get their kids the education they want them to have. I spoke with a political leader in east TN who has a kid in school here. Says he loves it do much he isn't moving back. Go figure. I am guessing most critics haven't lived here. Most fear what they don't understand.

Can we not all just get along? Lots of reasons to be happy this week. Show some love!
