I'll base my "opinion" on the fact of his offer list. But, if want to bury your head in the sand and spin it your way go ahead. As long as we are able to keep up with the Alabama State's (not Alabama), Troy's, Vandy's of the World I guess that makes you happy and that is what we have become.

And how has CP, Hunter, Bray, James, Fulton, Stone, Tiny, Jackson, Neal, Pig, AJ, McCullers, Couch, Maggitt, McNeal, Lane worked out for us (i can back some years if you need me to). And look at the rosters of our rivals, UF, UGA, USCe, (these are not our rivals Troy, Ga. State, Akron) and tell me star ratings and talent does not matter.

Arm chair coaches gotta love them, if you can do better go on down to Knoxville and apply. This is what is wrong with this situation so full of angry and hate towards our great University. This kid wants to play for Tennessee be respectful and welcome him with open arms, don't bash why we took a three star just be happy someone wants to play here right now with all the turmoil. Your upset we are not competing with the big boys yes I understand that, but back in the 80's how many years did we compete for NC and how many SEC titles did we win. I know of one SEC title in 85 other than that I can't remember. Majors never was under as much heat as Dooley is in his career here at UT but he didn't win every year either. If I was a top notch coach or HC why the hell would I want to come and listen to this crap from a arm chair wanna be such as yourself. Now your last point makes sense and is a rational thought. I might agree with u on that so instead of bashing this kid why not simply state it seems like a reach with the limited space. Instead some of you chose to attack an innocent kid because someone saw him as a three star and someone else a two. The point is noone knows his work ethic or his passion for the game yet so with everything that is going on why not wait and see.

I appreciate your nostalgia, but Austin Johnson and Nick Reviz aren't winning us SEC titles last time I checked. We need more guys like Jarvis Jones and Dontae Hightower. Want-to only gets you so far against talent.

If you were at all rational you would agree with the FACT this type of player doesn't come close to allowing us to compete with the elite of the SEC.

If you want to stick your head in the sand and deny what is happening around you that is fine, but do not come on here and try to tell us who don't have our heads in the sand that we aren't fans or we are hurting the program by not settling for something below mediocrity.

We stole this kid from South Florida, Vandy, & Western Ky. We are better than this. This is the reason our defense is bad.

I think he is a good acquisition for DE in our system. I'll take a field full of 3-star players who are familiar with the system if that gets us to where MSU is. From there, we could be a little more picky.

I agree with this^. Sal may or may not be the guy, but I think the 3-4 is the future for the Vols D. We need to build the core with guys who have experience playing this scheme. Its almost a chicken vs. egg thing; which came first the good D players or the good defense. A decent defense will attract good players, thus making the defense dominant in a couple of cycles.

This guy reminds me of Trevarris Saulsberry, who also was a 3* and has been playing pretty well for us.

That might work... but there is no guarantee that whoever we hire will succeed, even if it's Gruden. My opinion is that having the same system for 3+ years is more valuable than having a big name coach, that's why I'd welcome Kirby Smart if a change is made. If not Kirby, a defensive minded HC who would retain Chaney. Our offense is rolling, leave it alone. Someone like Charlie Strong might be a good option.

I think recruiting is a product of on-field results and recruiting resources like education and facilites. If our defense didn't completly suck and we had 6 wins right now, I think Dooley would be recruiting at a higher level. But, our defense does suck so we are losing and we have to settle for 3-stars until our defense catches up and our on-field results improve or until a coaching change is made that sparks the fanbase and sparks recruiting.
