I think the thing to remember with our linebackers, which I'm not sure if this was a lack of communication or leadership issue, but they broke down on a lot of pass plays and lost where they were and ended up costing us major yards. They were still tackling machines, but you have to be sound at every aspect of the game including knowing where you are supposed to be and not just having a knack where the ball is going to be. I mean that's great, but you have to know where to be. Just hope with Herm back we'll see improvement there.

I hope this is the start of a positive trend for Palardy. So many games last year were decided by a missed FG at the end of the game. UT will need a reliable kicker especially as they head into the October stretch.

Nice notes Ryan. Looks like we may have to score often to let the D take shape early in the season. Hopefully they'll make enough good plays to offset the miscues. My bet is we'll see better play as the Vols begin their gameplan against NCSU. Coach Sal will get 'em there. GO VOLS!

This kicking news definitely jumped out at me. Sounds like we are closer and closer to being sold on Palardy kicking the field goals. Any update on how we look kicking off? I just wonder if Palardy is showing any progress booting it deep...?

hope you are right - we need for him to be consistently great this year ; we are going to need our special teams to be a cut above +1

400 yards passing!? I know our passing game is good but bI thought that our DB's were better than that. Im a little concerned now.

I don't think in a situational scrimmage you can be overly concerned with the stats.
I also think something to keep in my mind is that while ideally reports from scrimmages would be even, our offense can potentially be a top 5-10 offense in college football. They are going to beat the D most days simply because they are really good.

RE: Palardy. Doesn't it seeme like his performance at PK and injury avoidance will be better if we can keep Darr punting anD hopefully Bullock KO? Seems like historically Palardy gets fatigued if we does too much. Hope the kicking game can help us win a game or two. Need a reliable Palardy.

Man, our D just worries me. I hope we can tighten the screws before N.C. State. Even if we're just an average D I think we win 9 games, easily. GBO!
