O-line foundation pleases Bajakian

Much of the production from Tennessee’s explosive offense will be in the NFL next season, but new coordinator Mike Bajakian thinks the Vols will still have a firm foundation.

  • With the strength next year being our running game and O-line, I really hope we try to shorten games and not give team extra possessions with our bad defense.

  • Given the events of last year, 45-42 isn't funny. I hope that we can show improvement on the defencive end. Although giving up 42 would actually be an improvement over last year. Looking back now I cannot believe how bad that DE was. Wes do you think there will be a step forward this year, or should we brace ourselves BC we are changing schemes again?

  • The comment about the entire staff meets about game plan with each side giving input such as if defense feels the offense needs to take some shots as they expect it to be a shoot out or vice versa. It made me think back to Dooley comments about how he mainly stayed in offense staff meeting. Did Dooley not even hold entire staff game plan meetings? That would be the dumbest thing ever not to to but by the way we played and each year our offense and defense was never on same page I would say it is very likely he didn't hold full staff game plan session.

  • I'm really curious to see how they are going to run a spread offense with an offensive line built for more of a power running game when most teams that run a spread use more of a zone blocking type scheme with smaller lineman that can move . I hate to be negative but I'm just not impressed with this staff . Coach say's all the right things but I'm just not sold.

  • I like the way all the new coaches think.

  • well for the next 2 years ide say he cant play excact offense he wants to run

when they talk they say they will mold to the players and play to there strength and weakness..i have faith they know what there doing..better then dooley would have
plus i look for some players to be switched around reshaping offense and defense

If we can consistently win next season. I will be happy. Score does not matter. Defense will come along, score differential will improve. That will be good and a move in the right direction. But, for now, I'll accept all 1-point wins if that is what it takes for the young men on the team to learn how to win.

I can't see TN having anywhere close to the historically bad defense that it was dealing with that year. The majority of those players were the same players that had kept TN in the top 30 in total defense under Wilcox but yet with the same players and some added talent TN managed to drop to the worst defense in history. I believe that was scheme. Most of those guys on TN roster were recruited by several other major programs and some were pretty highly sought after. I can see the defense being much improved. Not saying top 10 but being top 50 would be significantly improved over last season and I think TN can do that pretty comfortably.
