Wes has made this point a number of times, but I think it bears repeating: Dooley's job security will depend more on HOW we win or lose as opposed to a fixed number of wins and losses. This game, despite being a loss, I believe was a clear step forward for the team and will not make Dooley's seat any hotter. Most prognosticators wrote this game off as a UT loss before the season even started. The fact that our guys picked themselves up of the mat and punched back to within a couple plays of a win is a HUGE positive. They proved that they are going to fight for 60 minutes a game, and our coaches proves they can adjust in 2nd half. The failures I saw in this game were in execution.
I still think we win 2 of UA, USCe, MSU, and UGA. I think this secures Dooley's job and helps our recruiting class. I HATE losing, and I hate losing close games, but I hate it FAR less when our team fights and doesn't give up.
Oh, and I swear, if I see people calling "game over" 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter again...well, as Wes says, "you will rue."

I'm with the crowd that thinks this team took a big step today. As the Mod's have pointed out, we are playing better this year and now we have shown we can compete with one of the best teams in the country and on their field. I have watched USCe a great deal this year and can tell you they are not as good as UGA and I think we beat them if this team today shows up. Missouri at home I think could be a rout if this team today shows up. I think we will beat MSU by two touchdowns if this team today shows up. I am more encouraged than at any point this year. I have used my down vote privileges maybe 10 times in all my time on this board but I ran out tonight using them on some shortsighted and unthinking posters. I apologize and I won't let it happen again.

Thanks to Kevin, Wes, Ryan, and so many of you who are regular posters...it's nice to know there is a place for all things Vol without the overabundance of negativity that is ever-present on most of the other sites!

take it for what it's worth, but you guys are closer than you think. People will say our D sucks or is overrated, but we returned 9 starters from the 5th ranked D in the nation last year and TN gave them more than they wanted.
I know you think you're D is horrible and they didn't play well for sure, but wait for the season to play out to see how good UGA actually is.
