Not really -- word is NCAA will clear him of any wrongdoing.

I don't want him unless he is so clean his feet squeak on a dusty floor. But if so, and it happens in time for him to be hired, he would be OK. I wouldn't want him unless completely cleared and a letter in-hand from the NCAA.

  • 1. Chris Peterson ( why not ask)
    2. Larry Fredora
    3. Charlie Strong

To me Davis has too much grey issues surrounding him with Miami and now UNC.

  • I posted this before, but I’m going to say it again. Our new focus should be on Jimbo Fisher!
Jimbo is going to do great things wherever he’s at. Take a look at his first three seasons as a head coach compared to some other great coaches:

    Fulmer: (1993) 10-2, (1994) 8-4, (1995) 11-1 (29 Wins) *Not counting the 4 wins from ‘92
    Saban: (1995) 6-5-1, (1996) 6-6, (1997) 7-5 (19 Wins)
    Kelly: (2009) 10-3, (2010) 12-1, (2011) 12-2 (34 Wins)
    Miles: (2001) 4-7, (2002) 8-5, (2003) 9-4 (21 Wins)
    Fisher: (2010) 10-4, (2011) 9-4, (2012) 10-2 (29 Wins) *30 with a win on Sat.

I know the talent level at Michigan State isn't the same as what Fulmer, Kelly and Fisher inherited from their respective schools, so let’s take a look at Saban's first three at LSU:

    Saban: (2000) 8-4, (2001) 10-3, (2002) 8-5 (26 Wins).

So there’s the Win – Loss breakdown. Out of all those “Big Name” coaches, Jimbo Fisher is better or just as good. So, with Jon Gruden out of the picture, this is the hire we need and a hire that will propel us back to the top of the SEC East and a strong National Competitor once again. If that hire can’t be made, my list would then shift to Larry Fedora and then Charlie Strong.

  • Ok I have spent like an hour reading up on fedora and he seems like a good coach and I dont think I would mind the hire but I do beleive there are still multiple canidates better than him. Charlie strong would be the ideal hire bringing in his dc and keeping pittman and graham also bring in tee martin. I also think davis would be a good hire if he checks out with ncaa he would prob bring shannon as dc and keep the same guys on offensive I would be really excited with either one of these scenarios.

  • I would say to hire Petrino. Instead of offering him a piece of the Browns, we can offer him a piece of something else.

I think Jimbo inherited a pretty good situation though, unlike most of the other guys in that list.

I don't know, it looks like Kelly, Fisher & Fulmer all inherited good situations, we know Fulmer did.

  • Strong or Fedora for me.

    motownvol

  • For the potentially same price tag as Chucky, how about Fisher as our head coach, Fedora as our OC, and Strong as our DC?
