  • It's about time. I want Stanton more than J Upton, but I'll take JU ... definite upgrade ... will probably have to part with young arms, probably Delgado (I hope not Teheran), the young shortstop comin up behind Simmons and another young arm or two.
    I'd like this batting order:
    3b-Prado
    RF - Heyward
    LF - J Upton/Stanton
    C - McCann
    1B - Freeman
    CF - CJ Upton
    2B - Uggla
    SS - Simmons

    With is rotation:
    Medlin
    Hudson
    Minor
    Maholm
    Teheran or Delgado (eventually Beachy)

And the best bullpen in the game ...

  • Bourne didn't want to re-up with the Braves. I would've loved to have him back. If we can have the Double Upton, we will be in great shape. Of course, Uggla has to hit this year for us to compete.

If that's the lineup, Simmons will leadoff and Prado will hit second.

  • Teheran is the main piece in the deal. Said the proposed deal would send Teheran, another "top" prospect and 2 mid-level prospects for Upton. according to Buster Olney.

    Vols8

  • Alot of potential in that Braves line-up. Also alot of potential for alot of strike-outs. Boom or Bust IMO. Kind of like the gentleman in my Avatar.

  • If the Braves acquire J. Upton, they could be really dynamic or set off a windstorm with all of the whiffs just depending on the night. I would love to see them get him and I think it would do him and B.J. well to play on the same team. If they can avoid shipping out the farm then I hope they do it.

If the Braves can avoid a season ending injury to a pitcher like they seem to get every year then they would be very tough to handle. Of course they would still have to go through San Francisco, St. Louis, Washington, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia IMO to get there, but they would definitely be a top notch team and should be in the playoffs barring a choke.

That gentleman on your avatar hit 536 homers, was a helluva defensive player in his prime, had speed, and led his team to a stack of World Series. I'll take that.

  • We can afford J Upton for three years at his contract salary, which is less than his older brother, BJ. I'm thinking we have to give up Teheran and Gilmartin plus. So, I say we do the deal. That would put Prado at 3rd on an every day basis.
    Simmons
    Prado
    Heyward
J Upton (rotate with Mac L/R if Mac comes back to norm)
    Mac
    Freeman
    Uggla
    BJ

    medinavol

  • My lineup would look like this:
    SimbaSS
    Prado3B
    JHeyRF
    F.Freeman1B
    JUpLF
    MacC
    BJUpCF
    Uggla

    Huddy
    Malholm
    Medlen
    Beachy(in July)
    Delgado

Then 7-9 innings is lights out. Kimbrel is a stud. It'll be great to see the playoffs in Atlanta again.

  • I'm the biggest Braves fan out there. If we got Justin Upton, our lineup would be a matchup nightmare, particularly in the later innings. JMO, the whole key to this lineup are the lefties, jhey, freddie, and McCann. This is how I would do this lineup:

    Simmons
    Prado
    Heyward
    Justin Upton
    McCann
    Uggla
    Freeman
    Bj Upton

You might consider swapping Freeman and McCann, but the beautiful part about this lineup is interchangeability. All you do is get a feel for who's swinging the bat well, and adjust your lineup accordingly. Fredi Gonzalez is gonna have a lot of fun filling that lineup card out.

  • Deal done...well, I hope the brother Upton's don't have a family feud. Kinda like it, but do hate to see Prado go.

  • Source: Braves get Justin Upton and Chris Johnson from D-backs for Prado, Delgado, Ahmed and Spruill.

Agreed on the reason they don't advance, and disagree on hoping he'll be there forever. I will NEVER own one of these T-shirts, though I'm sure Wesley did at one point.
