OT: Any wine drinkers?

  • I just screwed up big time. Was too lazy to got to the liquor store, so I opened a bottle I had sitting around that my wife had brought home from a business trip to France a couple of years back. It was from 2001, so I figured it was probably spoiled but I would give it a shot before having to drive over to the store. Sure enough I open it and it smells good. Needless to say I looked it up online and I'm now surfing The Checkerboard drinking a bottle of wine that goes for about the same as a case of the crap I usually drink. Well, here's my toast to you Coach Jones! cheers

  • Kudos! Definitely prefer wine to beer. More alcohol, better taste.

Don't get me wrong. Love me some craft beer.

Who am I kidding. I'll drink pretty much anything fermented.

    Anyone got a moonshine hookup?

I went to Bristol with a buddy this past summer, and we met two old boys from Ky and they had the best moonshine I've ever had. I wish I couldve gotten contact info from one of em, but as you can guess I wasn't in the clearest state of mind.

I'll drink it all, I used to sell wine though. Now I just live in wine country. What was it that you opened out of curiosity ?

Chateau Duhart-Milon, Domaines Barons De Rothschild(Lafite) Pauillac 2001. I don't normally buy anything that's not domestic (love Alexander Valley wines especially), but this stuff is good.

I have been to the chateau. Unreal. Top end French wine is the best. However, for overall consistency, the USA takes it. I have been living in Europe for 8 years....Wine and water are all you need (in that order).

I love Napa! Try to get out there every year or two. My niece's husband works for the Giants and we're going to head out there and rent a house with them and some other family for a week in Napa for our 25th anniversary next summer. Can't wait.

Cheers!!!! I do love a good craft beer! For those interested, I was recently introduced to a hard cider called "Angry Orchard." The crisp apple flavor is excellent. It's not beer, but I really enjoy it. I stay away from most American beers unless they are microbrews or homebrew. That's where the flavor is...

No, but I just finished off a bottle of listerine. The buzz comes with a head-ache, but at least I have fresh breath!

Brouilly pronounced brewee is a French red that is chilled. Not many reds are but this is excellent. From the Beaujolais region. Great wine mid range on price. Chateau de La Chaiz is the best all around. Get rid of the rot gut.lol

  • If I'm drinking wine, it's got to be a good merlot. Only other wine I like is the homemade stuff. With beer, Its got to be a pint of the bitter! Anything thats black, with the consistency of burnt motor oil, and very bitter. Give me a good Oatmeal stout any day! Lol and if I can afford it, I really like Jack single barrel. For the rot gut stuff, wild turkey 101 moon argue blackeye pukeface
