OT: Attn Wes: Cubs, Starlin is a boss

  • Lawn seats at Hohokam for the padres v cubs. And Starlin is already showing out in two innings; two diving stops + put outs.

  • Stick around a bit longer, though, and you'll see him make an error and strike out swinging.

I mostly like Castro as a player, but he's a space cadet. He often doesn't have his head in the game, and he still makes an error for every spectacular play he makes in the field. He's a high-average hitter, too, but he doesn't have any patience at the plate. He drew a career-high 36 walks last year, which is not very good.

If he could improve in those two areas, he'd be one of the top two or three shortstops in all of baseball. He's still way up there, because shortstop isn't a very deep position, but he could be even higher.

Agree w/ that ab him being a high take at short bc of the lack of depth at that position, and agree he could be even better. Also, ftr, just after I sent the original post he booted an easy 6-4-3 dp which resulted in 2 men on. Also, sorry that the pic was upside down.

He's also, ya know, not old.

He can and hopefully will grow up.
