My dad, 72, is in a hospital in West Plains and has been since yesterday morning. He's been in bad health since early December. I took Davin down to meet him for the first time on Saturday. He weighs about 140 pounds now. He was about 250 when I was a kid. He was about 170 less than two years ago at my wedding.
Last week they noted he had emphysema and potentially skin cancer on his forehead. He went in yesterday and they found masses in his lung, stomach, and possibly in his liver. They'll know more today presumably.
I'm essentially on standby...in the gather the kids and grand kids realm. I'm about 4 hours from them right now. He's my stepdad but the only dad I knew so this is hitting me a hundred times harder than when my real father died. Sleeping was kind of hard last night. My attention span today isn't what it normally is.
I'm praying he can make it through. I would love Davin to know his grandpa and not rely on a few pictures we have taken.
