OT: Spring Training games....worth it to go?

  • So, I'm not a HUGE baseball fan but i've always enjoyed attending games a lot more than watching them on T.V. I can't, for the life of me, understand why they need to play 162 games. Nor do I understand why at the end of April the analysts and fans freak out if (Insert team name here) are x amount of games out of 1st place...but I digress.

Anyway, the Padres and Rangers are coming to San Antonio to have 2 exhibition games the end of the month and I'm debating on attending. Like I said, I've always enjoyed going to baseball games in person, but i've never gone to anything other than "meaningful" games. I can get tickets behind home plate for 50 bucks a pop and was curious if you guys think it'd be worth going.

  • Fifty bucks for a spring training game is pretty steep, but behind home plate is pretty cool. And the end of the month means it's close to the end of spring training so it will be more like a real game. Me, I'd go. If you're not a huge fan, it's a tougher call for you.

  • I just can't get into baseball until September. And I was thinking that 50 bucks for an exhibition game seemed high, but It's the first time a baseball game will be played at the alamodome so I'm thinking it may be pretty cool.

Hmm. I was going to say no until you mentioned the Alamodome part, but that actually might be pretty cool.

Yea, I dont know if you've ever been to the alamodome but I am pretty interested in seeing how they're going to setup the field for a baseball game. Like I said, it's supposed to be the first time they've ever played a baseball game there and i guess they're working with MLB and AstroTurf to get it set up pretty well.

Ryan is right. Any "first of its kind" game like that makes it worth a little extra scratch.
