OT: Transportation Question for NC St. Tenn Game...

  • So my brother and I are flying dwn for the game into Birmingham, getting a car and driving 3 hours or whatever it is to Atlanta all on Friday. We are staying at the Tennessee hotel, which is like freaking 10 miles from the stadium (Huge fail on my part). I have been looking into the best and quickest way to get there and I don't have a damn clue. MARTA is not even close to our hotel and would be out of the way. Driving would be the quickest option but I plan on getting a little sauced up before and after the game. Not to mention it is a Friday and traffic could be horrific...

The Hotel is 2450 Galleria Parkway, Atlanta, GA. I am trying to get this all ironed out now so I have a plan set by the time I leave. My flight gets into Birmingham at 9:52. So I'm hoping to be in Atlanta by 2, 3 at the latest. From the hotel I am stuck, I don't want to drive but it may be my only option. Does anybody in the Atlanta area have any suggestions or advice? It would be much appreciated.

Shoot drizzle you may just need to call a cab if you don't want to drive downtown.

  • Cab up then have all the sauce you want.

  • I'm staying at the Doubletree Suites by the airport. I'm planning to take MARTA to the Dome instead of driving, and I'll probably grab a cab to head back after the game (unless I wind up hanging out with some of my friends attending DragonCon, in which case I'll probably be completely hammered).

  • Unless you booked a package, you should be able to cancel your hotel, no?

Not an ATL expert, but if you're going to have to cab it to the game anyway, you're better off staying in Buckhead or something. Again, never lived in Atlanta.

  • You are staying at the Waverly at the Galleria. From there the best method is to call a cab. If you contact the hotel they could probably tell you the cab fare to downtown. You are 10 miles from the nearest MARTA station at Perimeter or Medical Center. You could also use a car service and they would take you down and pick you up and return you to the hotel for a flat rate. They are a lot nicer than a taxi and the hotel can arrange that also.

If you have to drive the good news is that you are on the right side of town to drive in the back way and avoid the massive cluster that will be Atlanta Highway traffic on the Friday before Labor Day. You want to work your way to Northside Drive and then follow it to the dome. It runs along the west side of the dome and there is a lot of good parking near there.

I've stayed at that hotel. Nice hotel. Far from anything. Cabs are pretty expensive from that distance but certainly wouldn't recommend driving if you want to booze.
