OT - Vols in Charlotte Area

  • Im no Alumni, but a huge fan, been one for 26 years. I just moved and I'm not sure if I'll have my cable set up, is there ANYWHERE people are gathering to meet and watch the game around? Thank you in advance!!

  • I live up in Raleigh which is enemy territory this week. Not sure I can't help too much, but here is the link to the Charlotte alumni page. Looks like they have viewing parties at Dilworth Grille which is a restaurant/bar I loved when I lived in Charlotte up until about 3 years ago. Hope this helps and being in Charlotte you will have a lot of UT fans (they will be wearing a wide array of shads of blue) and a few State fans on Friday. Outside of Raleigh, the entire state likes to S**T on NC State all day everyday. You can also contact the alumni president, he will be able to give you an idea of if anyone is meeting up. http://www.charlotteutalumni.org/events.htm#ViewingParties

    Hope this helps

  • Try baliey's bar and grille in Pineville when I lived up there my family went out to watch a game against South Carolina, it was almost like being in Knoxville, there were 3 sc fans in the whole place and over 100 Tennessee fans. Here are some directions

    Rod,

If all else fails try Jocks and Jills Sports Bar and restaurant on SouthStream Blvd just in front of Hyatt Place on Tyvola near the old coliseum. Always have a bunch of different games on and they will change to what you want to watch, plus they have pretty good food.

  • Depending on where you are I can give you a bunch of recommendations if you are just needing a sports bar. Kristopher's in Matthews was always one of the best if you are near that side of town.

  • Rod,
NCVOL09 is correct. The UT Alumni chapter here in Charlotte are meeting at Dilworth Neighborhood Grill (911 East Morehead Street), I got the email yesterday. I'm not as active as I'd like to be but I have gone down there to watch games before. It's a pretty good spot with lots of SEC fans coming in and out (I think Auburn Alums meet there as well, but they won't be playing Friday night).

I was debating checking it out, but I'm in law enforcement and the DNC is in town. I should get to watch most of the game, but need to rest, so my couch will have to do for this game.

  • I've been with arngekrush and I agree, Dillworth Neighborhood Grill has been the best place I've watched a UT game in Charlotte, I was surprised by the number of fans there. Last time I remember going was for the bowl game against NC, still a packed room with UT fans. I've always thought the service was great, food is typical bar food.

  • I live in Rock Hill and driving to Dilworth is a bit of a drive. I actually went to bailey's for the first time last night and it a nice set up.
