Good question. If I were holding it up, y'all would have no earthly idea what his head had once looked like. Not interested in holding any snake like that, 'dead' or alive, that's still sporting his melon.

Now, after a good five rounds in the noggin, I'd be all smiles and such, too. Just don't like those things (when they have heads).

Reminds me of a time I happened upon my brother in law, Gary, as he was terrorizing his neighbors with a headless rattler on the end of a hoe. Like I said, sans head, no problem. So, he poked at me with it and I snatched him off the hoe and could've chased Gary to town with that dude. Only chased him for about 20 yards, but it was fun, both for me and the neighbors.

The craziest thing about the whole episode was that Gary cut his rattles off an hour or two later, to give to someone who likes to collect them. That SOB had been dead in every conventional sense for at least a couple hours and I could attest directly that he hadn't personally owned a head during those hours, but it proceeded to strike Gary with it's nub, accurately, when he started sawing the rattles off. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it.

Nope. No head. Never trust them if they still have a head!

I think you might be onto something. The snake seems to be in better focus than the dude.. indicatign that it's closer to the camera
