OT..Jordan at 50

  • I was never the big Michael Jordan fan, although it's not hard to see he was the best but I would be intrigued to see what he could do In the league just out if curiosity

I've been wondering when we would start a debate thread on Jordan. Jordan in his prime in today's game wouldn't have a problem averaging 40 ppg.Defenses are nowhere near as physical, which gives Jordan even more space to shoot. It would probably be easier for him to get to the free throw line too because defenses are so soft now.

To me, the Jordan/ Lebron debate has no merit. Not yet atleast. Jordan is the greatest. There's no doubt in my mind. Jordan's intangibles alone set him apart from everyone else. Jordan put his team on his back every single night, not only offensively, but defensively. People forget how great of a defender Jordan was.

As for this little hot streak Lebron on is...it's really not even close to what Jordan has done. Jordan once had 11 triple doubles in a 12 game span!

  • Jordan is the greatest ever, without a doubt. Its not even close. He was CLUTCH, and willed his team to victory time and again

  • Think about this. Jordan took 2 years off to play baseball. He is the 3rd all time leading scorer. He won 6 championships in 8 years. He won countless awards and made countless all star teams. He played on the dream team. He was the face of a shoe company in Nike that needed a break like Jordan at the time to stay relevant.Jordan became much more than basketball he became a brand.

Lebron will never be Jordan ever, but neither will anybody else. Lebron is 28. He will have to play until he is 40 and over that 12 year span win 5 championships to beat Jordan and 6 to pass him. Heck he needs 4 to tie Kobe. That is a lot of championship winning over the next 12 years.

The 2 years off thing really gets me. If his dad hadn't died like he did, I don't think Jordan would have ever retired like that. But I think his dad's passing really shook him up mentally, which is why he left the game for awhile. If Michael had played those two years, there's no doubt in my mind that he would have won 8 in a row. He was that competitive.

Lebron might actually end up with more career points when his career is over, but in no way will I put him in the same conversation with Jordan or really even Kobe. He just doesn't have the killer mentality that Kobe and Michael have. Those intangibles are what set those guys apart from all the rest.

I lived grew up in Houston and my parents still live there, and Houston is the location of this years NBA All Star game which is this weekend. My dad said MJ won a couple hundred thousand dollars off of a member at our country club in a game of golf yesterday. The story is apparently that MJ's minimum bet is "1 dollar more than you are comfortable betting". 1)Its insane that there are people that can throw around money this way 2)He is clearly one of the most competitive athletes we will ever see

  • Jordan was just straight up Awesome! I got to see him play in person back in the 90's between his 2nd & 3rd championships when the Bulls came to TBA for an exhibition game. I will never forget that!
