OT~NFL Coaches Chopping Block

  • Arizona, Buffalo, Chicago, San Diego, Philly, Cleveland, and Kansas City. Crazy black Monday in the NFL and there could still be some more firings in the next few days. I think Carolina will be next. I hope my Cowboys make some changes as well but I do not know how good of a possibility that is. Although I could see Norv be brought back. I know Lovie has underperformed at times but I am not real sure on that firing. As far as the others it is probably time for all of them to make a change. I am sure Reid will land somewhere soon. All the other guys should be coordinators somewhere in the near future as well.

    Thoughts?

Crazy isn't it? 10-6 deserves firing? Lovie has done great there, and I think a change now will definitely set them back. From what I have heard, he has a GREAT relationship with most of his players. I think more than anything, they needed a new QB. JMO....The others, Romeo, Norv, Reid, Gailey, and Schurmur were definites for the can. Whisenhunt....I am borderline on. Prejections are: Smith to San Diego, Reid to Buffalo, or Arizona. Romeo, Pat, and Chan to a coordinator position, Whisenhunt to Cleveland, and Chip Kelly to whats left..Philly...Don't ask me where I came up with that. Just made it up as I went lol.

  • I think if Kelly gets a job Carolina should give it to him. That offense is set up perfect for what he likes to do.

Yeah, That would be good. Philly is similar as long as vic is there, but I say he'll be gone too.

  • I would say Vick is gone and not sure unless the Jets were to take a flyer that he will be a starter next year. Off the top of my head I can not really think of anybody who needs a QB thats not got one or a young up and comer.

KC needs a lot more than just a QB - that was one of the most inept offenses in the last 20 years...

it really was pitiful. To think those guys are making all that scratch, and can't produce.....They need a whole O makeover!

Other than QB, I agree. Must be coaching deficiencies or something.

Probably the only 2-14 team ever to have 5 pro-bowlers.

A lot of players were upset by the firing. I don't think he should have been let go. The day after he was fired, I think it was reported he had something like 4 teams that had already reached out to him about their job openings. His players loved playing for the guy. With a solid QB and OC I see him being just successful on his next gig, I've always loved me some Lovie.

I'm surprised the Cowboys didn't make a move. I thought they may make a move since Turner is now needing a job. If I remember correctly he was OC back in the glory days the Cowboys. If they don't Jason Garrett needs to give up play calling & game planning, he was out coached very badly against the skins keeping them from the playoffs and the same thing happened last year to keep them out.

  • So, does anyone want to speculate on whether or not Jon Gruden coaches at UT next year? Happy New Year folks

  • The Titans need to fire their GM. Their drafts the last few years have been terrible. My buddies and I were talking about why they are so bad the other day. Our verdict was that they don't have enough SEC players. The Titans only draft CUSA, Big East, Pac 12, etc type guys. Have to start drafting some of the big boys to fill their many needs.

Good point....but the arguement would be that alot of the players from other conferences have been just as successful in there position play. I agree tho, that SEC has an awful lot of huge contributors playing on sunday!

The Titans just fired their COO, Mike Reinfeldt, who previously served as GM before being elevated to his new position last year. He was pretty much responsible for all those weak-to-mediocre draft classes you mentioned. Too early to draw any conclusions about the new GM, Ruston Webster, but he seems to be highly regarded within the organization.

  • Rick Spielman, General Manager for the Minnesota Vikings should be named GM of the year for last year's draft. A 3-13 team last year, with the additions of Matt Kalil (1st round), Harrison Smith (1st round) and Blair Walsh (6th round), they are now 10-6 and in the playoffs. Of course a guy named Peterson had a little something to do with their playoff run.

I am looking forward to this year's draft and free agent moves. Hopefully the Vikings will return to the Super Bowl before AD's career is over.

Great point...AD is very deserving to get to the big show, as are the vikings. When you look at the teams who have made miraculous turn arounds since last season, the Vikes and staff can't be overlooked.
