Obviously Tee doesn't think Jones will be at UT for very long

  • Look at it this way Tee chose to work for a guy who cheats by deflating footballs on the sidelines and by switching player's jerseys mid-game. He chose to work for the guy who took the preseason #1 ranked team in America and lead them to a 5 loss season. It is what it is.

Actually, it's "obviously" the opposite. His goal, like most coaches, is to be a head coach. He knows Jones is here for the long term and Kiffy will probably be gone after next season. He'll have a much better chance at the HC position at SC if he sticks it out for another year.

T isn't going to be the Head Coach at USC in any dream. Pat Hayden isn't going to hire T Martin to be their head coach. T is a POSITION coach. T is at USC...he wants to be at USC...if he wanted to be here then he would have came. Time to move on. I'm supporting who we have, not who we don't

  • Maybe USC, and working under Lane Kiffin is just better. They both chose USC over Tennessee. I wish you good luck, and I hope you climb to the top of the SEC again one day. God speed, and fight on.

There isn't any difference in the 2, there is a reason Tee chose Kiffin over Jones and everyone can ignore that obvious fact but it doesn't change it.

I didnt say I thought Jones wasn't going to be here long term, but the most logical real reason Tee would turn down this offer is that he doesn't believe in Jones like Hart does.

Or it could be that Tee made a decision with his head, and not his heart.

Your new coach offered Tee a lateral move, not an upgrade. Smart move by your coach, offering the local hero the same position he holds currently, at a place with coach/players he has spent a year with, vs starting over for a coach he doesn't know. Coach Jones wins either way - if Tee turns it down, the coach looks good for offering and he can move on to who he really wants.

Coach Martin is a proud Vol, we know it, and respect it. Putting in a few more years in Southern California will only bolster his coaching resume, and establish important recruiting ties to the west coast. Tee learns on the job with us, we eventually send him back home with experience in a big program, he builds a name in a rich recruiting area to help his Alma Mater.

Coach Martin has made several comments that lead us to believe that it's less about coaching under Lane Kiffin, and more about being at USC.

If he thought Jones was going to be here long term then he jumps at this offer because you never now when or if this chance will ever come available again.

That is quite simply the dumbest comment I've seen on this board to date....get over yourself!

That is not it. Tee's wife wants to be a singer. She can't do that as well in K'ville as in LA. By coming to Knoxville, Tee would have been asking her to give up her dream. Why do that when you already have a good job at USC (he can do what he loves and so can she). It is likely that simple.
