Off topic-How many of you on here has the headlights turn white?

  • ide like to save some of you some money if i can,i went bought a kit to clean my headlight lamps

    they turn white dew to the weather,now advance and all auto parts stores will sale you a kit 40-50 bucks

    water sanding it,wax ect right? okay my brother is a number 1 guy on fixing cars he has his on garage

    other night he wrode to the store and my head lamps was on high beam and he said turn your light on bright ,i replyed they are,he said okay tomorrow go get you some brake fluid and put it a cloth rag and do not touch your paint with it.
    so today i did i cleaned my headlights with brake fluid and they look new again.unreal also this will save you alot of money either changes the whole headlight housing out or buying a cleaning kit.

    thought ide share,because all these new cars are bad for it,try and you will be thanking me ,i can see good now.and why he didnt tell me this 5 years ago is beyound me.

  • It has to be buffed out. I have used a kit that goes on drill that worked. It lasted 6-months and needed it again.

    Thanks bro I will definitely try it! I bought the stuff from auto zone that you wipe on and let it haze then wipe off and it doesn't work

    Yes sir, I do. Tried the kit. Better than I started with but wasn't happy with the results. But I'm definitely gonna try this. preciatechavols

    okay let me explain these new cars has these headlight's and they fade which is call oxidation< spelling)

    which turns your headlamps white and then your lights look very dim.it looks like its on the inside but it isnt,get you small bottle of brake fluid,take a cloth rag wet it ,rub the outside of the headlight ,and do not get it on your paint. then your headlamp looks new again and you can see.
    you must not have the problem if you dont understand.if it does happen you will know of the night
    because your lights will look very dim.

    sure dont work and my brother say to me you dummy use brake fluid simple,and i told you dummy you should have told me this last year not after i spent over 50 bucks and didnt help lol.
    it works, my new truck it still looks new but i cleaned it yesterday so if it has started to oxidation dont have a chance. and these store charges out rages price and simple can of brake fluid works great.

    volfan when you do it .plz repost and tell these folks how good it works and they sale us a 40-50 dollar kit to clean these .i for 1 have bought it and didnt get good results,the brake fluid i just couldnt believe how it made it look new again.
    now how long it works i have no idea month-months have no idea ,but it only takes 2 mins of your time
    so no big deal . me every time i wash and clean my car ive added to my list to do,wheather it needs it or not. have good day my vol friends

  • I was looking for a solution to oxidized headlamps on my wife's SUV. Thanks for posting the brake fluid solution! Going to try it this weekend.

    thank you its 5 min job.wait till you see the reults.do 1 hjeadlight and take the piture show both to see the big difference.pass it ,that kit his way to high to have a simple thing and dont cost over 5 buck compared to the kit.thanks volfan28
