Oh BTW and FWIW - Warning- Rowing Thread!!

  • Your LadyVols are the 2012 C-USA Champions!!!

Had a great day at Lake Melton on Saturday. The girls pulled this thing out on the last race of the day, beating Texas in a race which was essentially "winner take all". No pressure.

Looking forward to next year already.

  • I've always been a huge women's rowing fan. Those girls deserve this. They've worked hard. I'm so happy for them!

  • They are a bunch of hard working kids, no doubt. I was at the team banquet on Thursday night, and they have 4 seniors leaving that are incredible athletes, and incredible people. But they have some high quality youngsters on the team as well.

Also, very notable news that I dont mean to brush over.

C-USA Coach of the Year went to the LadyVols Coach Glenn
Newcomer of the Year is Kayla Lucier, freshman LadyVol from Canada! (I stood next to this kid. . . quietly, so as to not offend her. Big Strong Girl!!!)

She is going to OUTSTANDING for the LadyVols in the future.

My kid was on the novice team, and Im not sure how many of them are coming back, but there are some very talented kids there. They put 2 boats in the finals of the SIRA's a couple weeks ago, something that has not been done since 2005, and the A boat placed 2nd to Texas on Saturday in the Grand Final. The B boat (competing against everyones A Boats) beat Bama by 7+ seconds in the Petite Final (consolationish final)

Overall, and great year. Waiting to hear about NCAA Championships. Selections are done for that tonight.
