You are not a commitment if you are only '65% committed', or if there are 'serious contenders'...
I hope he ends up a Vol, but to list him as a commitment after reading this is inaccurate.

Nothing wrong with this young man falling in love with Ole Miss...it is an amazing campus, although their football team leaves a lot to be desired! With that said, if you want to play on Rocky Top for the Tennessee Volunteers, come on up to Knoxville next year, young man! Go Vols!!!

I would not consider this kid an actual commitment. I would rather them wait til signing day and be 100% sure. If they consider themselves 65% sure why commit now.I would say that Tennessee is just his leader at this point.

Ole Miss probably won't look so good later this year when the Vols win 8 games to the Rebels 4 or 5.

Seems like a lot of kids coming away with a favorable impression of Ole Miss these days. Not sure why so many are being so dismissive of them. It isn't Vandy - you can have success there. A couple good recruiting classes can make the difference there. God knows they have the money! Create some momentum around the program in recruiting and the role of punching bag of the West vanishes quickly.

Their coach has everything to do with it IMO. He understands and loves the tradition of the school there, and players can see that.

That being said, I still don't see why people would choose Ole Miss over Tennessee.

The west is loaded with better coaching and talent. I think the addition of Texas A&M will demolish any hope of them ever contending in the SEC west. I could be wrong, but Ole Miss, Vandy, and UK may be the only three schools that have never been to SEC championship game since it's inception in 1992. Ole Miss has some nice "scenery" but that's about it.

This just speaks to the disadvantages of the state of TN. Its so much harder for a group of 3 kids from memphis to get in a car and drive all the way to knox together. Those friendships are so much closer out there much closer to each other when they go to Ole Miss. This is why I hope that Knox soon becomes the new "memphis" of TN and the talent in the state moves east in all sports. Its so hard to recruit out there. Hope we hang on to him for multiple reasons, the least of which is not the connections to future memphis athletes that he is prob friends with that I'd love to show up in Knox one day

I can't see this happening in our lifetimes. It's mainly demographics, and they haven't changed much in East Tennessee since World War II.

Unless there is someone maintaining a relationship with him from Knox he'll turn Rebel by signing day, from reading this. However when you consider the coming season we hope to experience, I'm fairly confident Tennessee will be more attractive heading into National Signing day.

Very true. Ole Miss has a brutal schedule, including an out of conference game against Texas... If they go bowling then it would be a miracle.
