Can any of you who want to give him more time explain to me what makes you think next year would be any better? Good chance we lose some offensive weapons early. The assistants will be in flux. Do you bring Sunseri back? If not, are the guys learning another system, and then we'd have to pay Sal's buyout and hire a new guy with a new buyout. Our recruiting isn't awful but without an extension it's going to severely hinder Dooley. I just don't see how you guys see it getting any better.
I too would prefer we don't go through another coaching search, but when there's no logical path to improvement I really don't see any other option. 8-4 was supposed to save his job this year, what would it take to give him an extension next year? 9-3? Another 8-4? I just don't see any scenario where we have a 9 or 10 win season next year, and if we don't you can't extend him. So what are we really accomplishing?
