Patterson or Hunter?

  • I've always loved Hunter, but Patterson is....WOW. Lost a little in the dismal defensive performance was the insane effort for these two. They are both a special talent and its a pleasure to watch them both. Which one is going to have the better NFL career in everyone's opinion?

I think I am with you on this - to me Patterson looks like a fast football player. Hunter looks like a track guy playing football, albeit quite well, but he doesn't have the hands or the running after the catch skills that Patterson has.

  • CP is that type of athlete that you rarely ever obtain or contain. I have never in my short life witnessed anybody be nearly as explosive with the ball in his hands. Berry was explosive on some of his interception returns, but I don't think he had the same speed CP has. If Cordarrelle could ever run crisp, consistent routes, he could go down as the greatest ever in UT history.

It's a shame that he is more than certainly gone to the draft after this year. He has shown all he needs to show to be a top two round draft pick, IMO. Only thing that could hurt him would be a weak showing, where he is consistently inconsistent. He has not had a single game where he had multiple key mistakes. I can only remember dropping the touchdown on Florida.

  • Patterson- Better athlete by far. Big, physical, smart. Well he's just a Beast Cat!

Hunter- Hands Dow better receiver. He's perfect size for reciever and runs much better routes and catches it better. He's just a more pure reciever.

But hands down Patterson is the play maker and the guy I want to have the ball no matter what the situation is! Period!

Oh yea Go Big Orange. Breathe, eat, and sleep big orange football!

Great analysis of the two. Most of the projections I see have Hunter ahead of Patterson if they both go pro, but if I'm an NFL GM I think I'd have to go with CP. Hunter might have better straightline speed but CP's elusiveness is unbelievable. I think CP is probably gone but if he came back and learned to be a good route runner he could very well be the best WR in college football next year.

Easily. He's a bigger version of Sammy Watkins. Whatever happened to that guy anyway?

I disagree. CP is Percy Harvin with size. Hunter doesn't look like a sub 4.5 guy anymore, which makes me question what he really is at the next level.

Hunter has to catch the ball and catch td s in big games.

  • Agree with the Darick answer.

CP probably wins over Hunter, he looks like Andre Johnson but better in the open field. I'm just not convinced Hunter is physical enough to be elite at the next level (hope I'm wrong)

Sammy? He was suspended for a few games for possession, played rusty the next game I think, and then got sick for a game. Now he is back, but he missed too much to be a huge national spotlight type of impact player. In the last 2 games, he has 300 yards and 2 tds (granted it was Wake and Duke...)

  • Have you ever noticed that CP won't even lean forward for a catch. What about a diving catch? Come on man....but if CP does get the ball in his hands, he is magical.

  • I would take Justin because i think Justin is actually a very smart football player, and i don't think the same can be said for CP. In the league it is better to run the right route and be open than to be a physical freak. NFL CBs might could cover CP and you run a wrong route on an NFL QB and you're on the bench...

  • I love CP. He is by far the better pure athelete. Amazing what he can do with the ball in his hands, but like I said awhile back, he has to get the ball in his hands before he can do things in space. He does not get enough separation against college DB's and I would think that would be attributed to route running. It seems like he may rely to much on his pure atheleticism. In the NFL this will not work and for that reason alone I would pick Justin Hunter. Its just too much risk to draft high with a player even though he is as atheletic as CP, and hope he isn't a bust. I know some people will say they will teach him route running, but how long will that take in the NFL?
