You're absolutely right, I don't know what Gruden would do, but I can make educated guesses. With your thinking, should we hope for Saban or Stoops? How about Kelly at ND? I'm just trying to be a realist. The guy was grad assistant one year in Knoxville and met his wife here. That doesn't mean that if the job comes open, he'll take it... see 2010. More importantly, I don't see him coaching college players. Yes he does his QB deal on ESPN, for guys going into the NFL, not an 18 year old Da' Rick Rogers or Janzen Jackson prima donna that is immature. He was widely known for not liking Rookies in the NFL and something tells me he'd have even more disdain for 18-22 year old kids.

The problem with most of us TN fans is that we're unrealistic, and those expectations cause us to be even more disappointed and upset when they don't come to fruition. If you're a realist, you know Gruden isn't coming, therefore move on to something that could actually happen.

Petrino is well beyond a "second chance" as far as character issues go. He bolted Louisville for the Falcons after signing a massive contract extension designed to keep him there (ironically the reason Strong is so locked in at Louisville today), then bolted the Falcons mid-season without even the courtesy of a notice - just left the facility. And the Arkansas stuff (hiring his mistress, never notifying the University of a relationship with the woman, lying about the wreck, etc) just adds to the reasons not to hire him. I could not root for Petrino if he was hired at Tennessee.
