Other than McCullers, is there anyone who would clearly fit better in the old 34 system? I guess O'Brien technically was recruited last year but I was never sure where he fit better - I always thought 43.
I think Couch fits much better in this scheme. Hopefully he has a big year.

I don't see any reason why McCullers shouldn't command two blockers on every play (run to his side anyway).

I don't care who it is, we need to get pressure on QB's and stuff some runs. So many players had "career days" against UT last year. It all starts at the line. If our line play improves, it will be amazing to see how much better the LB's and CB's will seem to play, too.

I think Marlon Walls might have been a better fit at 3-4 end than he is at 4-3 tackle, but he's certainly capable of being a pretty good 4-3 tackle. Other than Walls and McCullers, who would be disruptive in any system — and may be even more dominant in a 4-3 — I would agree that most of UT's current defensive linemen probably fit a bit better in a 4-3 system.

I agree on Walls, his profile was ideal for a 34 DE, but I also didn't see as much production from him last year as I expected.

Really hope to see something from O'Brien this year. He's a big talented kid who could be ready to show what he can do.

Man, things look scary after this season...hope we land some big uglys and the young guys pan out. Getting 3 DL this class was BIG, we'd be in some serious trouble if they hadn't turned Brown at the end and gotten Miller on NSD.

I don't care who fits better in a 3-4 or a 4-3 but they have got to be better than the mess we all wittnesed last year.
