Questions for Ryan regarding OVs

  • I don't understand the difference in OVs and UOVs. I would assume there are paid expenses to the recruits like travel , and lodging? Are there other benefits paid by the university on these trips? If we are limited by the NCAA on our OVs , why do local recruits like Kendrick and Smith from CAK not give up their OVs so they can be used for recruits with greater travel expenses? Also do the recruits spend the night on campus or do they all lodge at a Knoxville hotel?

Sorry if these items have been addressed in threads and I have missed the explanations.

Also have food paid for. Can buy clothes, but get clothes to wear on campus (UT apparel). Only have 56 a year, but we are on probation that knocks off 9 so we are at 47 for the next couple years. Every player is allowed 5 officials and unlimited unofficials. Ryan said a couple days ago they may feel slighted if they didn't want to give them the officials and there are several teams that are trying to get them on campus so it is to lock them up more than anything. Do not know about the last question.

  • Thanks for the answers Woody and Ryan. I love following recruiting and all the information that I find on this board. I wish there was a way to learn more about the itinerary of a typical weekend visit without giving away any "secrets" unique to this staff.

Looks like eating ribs is part of it...

@UTCoachJake: @calhouns had another great lunch at one of the finest restaurants in Knoxville. Thank you for everything you do for Tennessee
