Quick site note from Kevin

  • Everyone,

Just want to say a quick "thank you" to all our VIP members – new and old. We are very happy to have each of you and promise never to take you for granted.

With the coaching search in full swing, and all the subsequent news that will follow – filling out of the staff, keeping current commitments, landing new commitments, the run to signing day, etc. - I wanted to point out again the benefits of upgrading from a monthly membership to an annual membership.

If you have been a monthly subscriber and know you like the site and plan to stick around, it is a benefit to both you and us to upgrade from monthly to annual. You actually save money with an annual subscription. It amounts to $8.95 per month instead of $9.95. The only difference is you get billed once a year for the full amount ($107.40) instead of being billed 12 times. This can be a benefit for some, too, because they only have to explain once charge to their significant others. biggrin

In addition to the cost savings, annual subscribers are eligible to sign up for our text alert service free. Because of the costs of building, using and maintaining this service, right now text alerts are only available to annual members.

Having more annual members also allow us to plan for the future, budget and determine if/when we might be able to hire additional staff to help us cover the Vols. The stability of annual memberships gives us a much better idea of what we can and can't afford in the future. I know this is almost impossible to believe, but this site is still new – it's less than 2 years old. We are still in the growth stage, and annuals help a great deal.

If you are a monthly subscriber and wish to upgrade your account to annual, you should see a big green UPGRADE button at the top right of the site. You can also upgrade through your user options on the full site by clicking on “My Account” and clicking the "Plans" tab. After clicking on the button, you should see details on our annual offer. Click on "upgrade now" and you’ll successfully upgrade your account with us from monthly to annual and will be eligible to set up text alerts.

If you are already an annual member, thanks again. If you are an annual member that HASN'T signed up for text alters, just click on My Account and then click on the Alerts tab. At that point you just enter the mobile number you'd like to receive the alerts. The boxes below should be checked by default if you are visiting there for the first time. Just enter your number and hit save and you should be all set.

Thanks again for everyone's support, and let me know if you have any questions.

  • I highly recommend the annual membership. I remember when i signed up for the trial subscription and emailed Kevin to cancel it and told him that i wasn't interested in paying for a Vol's site. A few days later I sent him an email back and told him to sign me up for the annual subscription because i felt lost without all the great info that is on this board. Besides, $9 a month is bargain for the amount of time spend on here. Keep up the good work guys and welcome to all the new VIPs!

  • I love this place, Kevin. I gave it a long trial as a monthly subscriber before finally cancelling my Rivals sub and going annual here earlier this week.

You guys are forcing everyone in this market to step up their game and that's the highest compliment I think can pay you and your team.

  • I'm still on my trial, but once I have a chance to see the content when things aren't hectic I would certainly consider upgrading to annual. I've been VERY pleased so far, and I feel like the coverage of the coaching search that you all have provided is far and away better than any of your competitors. I would definitely say that it's exceeded my expectations.

Tell Rucker that you all could probably afford 2 recent UT Journalism grads if he would give up the Cubs season tix, monthly case of Johnny Walker Blue, and the Benz I see him cruisin' around Island Home in all the time.

Just kidding, love the site and keep up the good work.

  • As an annual subscriber about to renew for my third year, I can't recommend this enough. I know it's crazy around here right now with a few flame posts/trolls from some free trial folks, but, trust me, this place is a community that values dialogue and conversation. No childish stuff. We made it through an entire presidential election without one nasty thread regarding politics or religion!

And, when they aren't trying to run down the coaching search stuff, WRK are usually at our fingertips when we have a question to ask about anything Vol related. I've never paid for another site and couldn't imagine doing so until I tried 247.

When things are settled, I will add that one of my favorite things here is asking Wes about Vol stuff from recent history that no one knew about at the time which the "statute of limitations" has now expired on. He's shared some great stories about BJ Coleman's transfer (apparently BJ had to be physically removed from Lane's office because he was such a jerk to BJ), the Kiffin era, the previous coaching search, the reason Kevin Stallings hates UT so much, the relationship between staff and media, etc. that you don't get to ask in other settings. On top of that, there are times when we ask Wes/Ryan specific questions and they make a point to ask the appropriate people in/after the presser.

If you love the Vols its well worth the $100 a year. Can't imagine how good things would be if there were even more staff covering the beat for 247.

  • Kevin, how is my current months sub price effected if I sub annually today?

You are scheduled to be charged for your monthly subscription again the afternoon of Dec. 5. If you upgrade to annual, you will be charged immediately.

However, I will extend your new expiration date out for you since you would be paying for a few days of Nov. and part of Dec. twice.

I'll move out your renewal date to take that into account.

    Does that make sense?

    Kevin Ryan

  • I can handle an annual subscription. I didn't realize that you guys based your market research so heavily on the annual subscriptions. I'd be glad to help out even tho I wasn't planning to pull my monthly subscription anytime soon.

This site is crazy addictive, I'm not sure what I would look at on the internet without it. lol

Quick question. Is the subscription renewal date based on sign up date or does everyone renew on the same date such as Jan, 1 with a prorated sign up amount?

    Thanks guys! Go Vols!

    ncvolsalum

  • Yes kevin it does. I did not realize that my Sub date was December 5th. I will not have the ability to do so until the 1st anyway so in that case I will go ahead and re-up for the year on the 4th. In that case I would only be 1 day short. There will not be any need for a comp day. Thanks again Kevin

I made this change for you, et. Next month instead of being billed monthly, you will be billed for an annual subscription. If you change your mind in the next few days let me know.

  • Thank you to K,R, and W for making this the best site for all things Vols. I, too, was a monthly member for a year. I kept it that way thinking there was no way they could keep my interest everyday for 365 days. They did and I upgraded to annual on my 1 yr date last year. After I upgraded, I went through some personal issues that kept me from posting on the board and kinda kept me off it. Well I got a personal message to my email from Kevin making sure everything was ok. He was concerned about me as a person not just getting money. They already had me for the year. I can not express how much that means to me. That is what this site is all about.

  • And remember, a yearly membership makes a great Christmas present!

Don't be a stranger this time around!! Between you and Shoeless going AWOL, people started throwing out weird conspiracy theories. Or was that related to the coaching search??

  • I'll try not to. Just needed a break from the posting the last few weeks of the season. I supported Dooley until Vandy!! It was just a painful few months. I also started a new job that took my time but things have calmed down and I have the hang of it now so I will be on more. I have been here reading, not as much, but I am here. Since Dooley was fired I have been on here too much!! I will get back to posting again.

  • Just spoke with Kevin, and he's gonna be out of pocket for the next couple of hours ago. He's trying to help his Dad of the Year Award candidacy by going to an event with one of his sons.

He wanted me to tell y'all he'll be back tonight to answer any questions, and to not think he was avoiding anyone.

I may or may not have promised to post this only if he admitted that Dusty Baker was the scourge of civilized society.
