RB to keep an eye on

  • Memphis University School RB Shane Tucker turned a lot of heads with a big performance against nationally ranked Ensworth High School on Friday.

Along with Vanderbilt, Tucker said he's hearing the most from Tennessee, Clemson and Ole Miss and he says Tennessee is his dream school.

There are obviously some guys Tennessee is going after right now that are higher on their board but I do think that Shane may be poised for a real breakout season this fall and he could be a guy to have on your radar.

Shane Tucker's big opening night opens some eyes

A fantastic opening night performance by Shane Tucker opened up some eyes on Friday night. Did Vanderbilt take notice?

BS, Tucker is teammates with 6-3 LB Ford Howell who has been getting a lot of love from recruiting sites lately. Have heard talk about him being an under the radar LB/DE prospect.

How did he look last Friday night? Any thoughts on his potential?

Howell's a good player but the linebacker to really watch on that team is James Prather. He's a big linebacker in the class of 2014 that really looks the part and is athletic.

Howell isn't 6-3 IMO. I'm 6-2.5 and I met him this winter and was taller than him. Solid player though.

I was going to ask about Prather. He looks like a top 5 type in-state player on film, is that a reach? Guy looks like he could grow into a perfect Jack LB.

I don't think top 5 in state for 2014 is a major reach for Prather. Definitely has the frame. If he puts together a good year on film, he has a higher upside than most of the guys we have ranked right now.

I'm looking forward to seeing his junior film but no, i would not at all be surprised if he is rated that high.

Barton, I'm not sure how long you've been covering recruiting, but is the 2014 Tennessee class of prospects the most talented and deepest in the last say, 10-15 years.
